Hello everyone! Hello to the wonderful @asean.hive community! It’s me again “LJ”, and today I will share another blog to you all.
Last Friday was a memorable night in our school as we celebrated the closing program of “Buwan ng Wika”. I felt truly honored because I was chosen as one of the judges for the contests, along with some of my co-workers who are also non-teaching staff. It was an exciting role for me, since it gave me the chance to witness up close the talents and creativity of both students, parents and teachers.
The program started at 6:00 p.m. and by then the whole venue was already packed with students, parents and guests. The air was filled with chatter and excitement, and you could see how proud everyone was to be there. It was more than just a school event, it felt like a true community celebration.
One of the first contests was the “Bida si Nanay, Bida si Tatay”. This was a special part of the program because it gave the parents a moment to showcase their own talents. That evening, two parents joined, and both of them chose to perform through singing. The crowd was very supportive, cheering and clapping along. In the end, “tatay” won, and the audience erupted in applause. It was such a heartwarming and fun segment, reminding us that parents also deserves the spotlight.
But the highlight of the night was the “Ikatlahi” contest. This was the main competition everyone was waiting for, and the audience’s excitement doubled when it began. In this contest, male students transformed into female characters and showcased different aspects of Filipino culture through costumes and performances. It wasn’t just about dressing up, it was about confidence, creativity, and cultural pride.
The performances were truly entertaining. All participants dance gracefully and wore colorful, detailed costumes that clearly took a lot of effort to prepare. The audience couldn’t stop laughing, clapping, and cheering throughout the contest. As a judge, I was really impressed and, at the same time, challenged, because each student gave their all and brought something unique to the stage.
In the end, the Grade 12 student emerged as the winner of the “Ikatlahi” contest. The crowd cheered loudly, and you could feel how proud his classmates and teachers were of him. It was well-deserved, and I’m sure it will be a memory he will carry with him for a long time.
I also invite my son to watch the program. He really enjoyed the lively atmosphere and laughed so much during the “Ikatlahi” performances. I was happy to see him having fun while also appreciating the beauty of cultural celebrations.
By the time the program ended, I felt grateful and fulfilled. The event was not only about competitions but also about showcasing the richness of Filipino culture, the support of families, and the joy of being part of a community. Sharing this experience with my son made it even more unforgettable. Truly, the closing program of “Buwan ng Wika” was a beautiful way to celebrate our heritage and unity.
And that’s it for today’s blog! I hope you enjoy reading it and see you on my next one. Have a nice day ahead to all of us!
