Hello everyone! Hello to this wonderful community! It’s me again “LJ”, and it’s been a while since I’ve shared my stories here. So now, I’m gonna share a new one.
Last Monday was a holiday here in the Philippines, as we celebrated “National Heroes Day”. Because of this, there were no classes and no work. It felt nice to have a long weekend, and since there was no rush to go anywhere, we all woke up later than usual at home. Sometimes, it really feels good to just allow yourself that extra hour or two of sleep, especially on a holiday.
For breakfast, I didn’t prepare much for myself. Instead, I had a refreshing dragon fruit shake that my brother made. He blended the bright pink fruit with milk and ice. And the result was creamy, sweet, and cooling. I loved how vibrant the color looked in the glass, dotted with black seeds from the dragon fruit. It was simple yet so satisfying, exactly the kind of drink that sets a light and happy mood for the rest of the day.
While enjoying it, I opened my Netflix and watched a series starring Anne Curtis and Joshua Garcia. It’s actually the Filipino Adaptation of the Korean series “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay”. Honestly, this was my very first time watching a local adaptation of a Korean series, and I am pleasantly surprised by how much I am enjoying it. The acting, the chemistry of the cast, and even the flow of the story caught my attention. I find myself appreciating how our local industry can give justice to such a well-loved series.
After a few episodes, I suddenly remembered that I had a pending parcel from Shopee, and luckily it had already arrived. It was a cute cord protector for my iPad charger. Since I didn’t have much else to do, I decided to put it on right away. I chose the avocado design, of course, because I’ve always loved avocados. It was such a small thing, but adding that touch of personality to something as simple as a charger made me happy.
Lunch time came, and we kept it simple at home. We had korean spam, miswa soup with home made siomai. The combination was filling and comforting, perfect for a laid-back holiday meal. Nothing too fancy, just food that makes you feel warm and satisfied.
In the afternoon, my husband asked for fries, so I cooked some for him. It has become one of my little ways to spoil him, especially when I see him tired from work. At that time, he was already busy playing his favorite game. Call of Duty, with his online friends. Gaming has always been his stress reliever, a way for him to unwind after long hours of work. I let him enjoy his “me time” while I continued watching the series I had started in the morning.
For dinner, we enjoyed homemade kimbap(korean dish) prepared by my brother. He has a real love for cooking, and it always shows in the meals he makes for us. The rolls were filled with a mix of rice, ham, carrots, cucumber, strips of egg, and wrapped with seaweed. They looked so colorful and tasted delicious! Simple yet hearty. Sharing it together at the table felt like the perfect way to close our relaxed holiday.
The rest of the day went by quietly, but it was exactly the kind of rest I needed. No rushing, no pressure, just enjoying simple things, good food, quality time at home, a series that entertains me, and a peaceful holiday with my loved ones. Sometimes, ordinary days like this are what we actually need to recharge and appreciate life even more.
And that’s it for today! I hope you like my blog and hope to see you on my next one! Have a nice day ahead to all of us.

A relaxing holiday @lj1728! Sometimes it's really the simple things like good food, family time and a bit of rest make our day special. ✨
Yes I agree! It is important for us to relax sometimes and have a slow paced kinda day.
Holiday well spent, delicious food and watching series. Did the filipino version is good also? I just watch the korean. Have a blessed sunday. 😍
The korean version is still the best but I must say that the filipino version is also good since the actors really portrayed their character very well. Good acting! Have a nice day!
That's good to know. If I have time I will watch it. 😍
