Happy Friday Hivers!
I’m proud that whenever I plant something, it usually grows well. I was trained in gardening back in my elementary days. Before, each student had their own small garden area in school. We were required to make our garden look nice and plant any vegetable we liked, and we were the ones responsible for taking care of it.

I remember that the fertilizer we used was all natural. There was a cave not too far from our school, and our T.H.E. teacher would bring us there to collect bat droppings because they made very good fertilizer. Because of that, our plants grew very healthy.
In my garden before, I chose to plant pechay. I picked it because it’s delicious and also easy to grow. Of course, we all aimed to grow beautiful and healthy vegetables because our grades depended on it.
Because of that experience, I think I became a little addicted to planting. At home, I also plant vegetables and flowers. Even when I reached high school, I continued planting.
But when I started college, that was one of the things I really missed because I was already living in the city. Life in the city is different, and there isn’t much space for gardening. Slowly, I forgot about my love for planting until I started working. It has been many years since I last planted anything.

This time, I’m very grateful to be back in Leyte. Aside from being able to spend time with my mom, I also get the chance to return to something I truly enjoy, gardening.
One time, I used red bell pepper while cooking our meal. Then I realized that instead of throwing away the seeds, it would be better to plant them. So I placed the seeds directly into a pot. After a few days, they started to sprout. The only problem was that we weren’t fully ready yet because we were running out of soil. Our soil supplier was busy and couldn’t deliver right away.
Since we only had a small amount of soil left, we were able to transfer only five red bell pepper seedlings. We used empty cans and plastic bag as pots for the red bell peppers.

Even with simple materials and limited soil, seeing those small plants grow again reminded me how much joy gardening brings to me. Sometimes, happiness can start from the smallest seeds we choose to plant.
Although I’m not yet sure if these plants will survive until they bear fruit, I’m already excited just thinking about the day I might finally see them grow and produce their own peppers.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
