Happy Thursday Hivers!
It was a long time ago when my mother was deeply addicted to orchids. She loved having flowers constantly blooming in our yard. I still remember when I was young, every weekend, she would wake up very early and go straight to the garden to check and talk on her orchids.
While watering them, she would gently talk to her plants. She used to say that plants also need to be spoken to, just like people. For her, caring for orchids was more than just a hobby, it was a quiet ritual of love and patience.

We had so many different kinds of orchids in various colors, each one unique and beautiful. Unfortunately, they slowly began to die. My mother became very busy and could no longer take care of them the way she used to.
Aside from that, she later discovered something that truly disappointed her, the water we had been using for watering had become salty. Since we live near the sea, there are times, especially during summer, when the water supply turns slightly salty. She didn’t notice it right away, and little by little, her precious orchids started to wither and die.
It was heartbreaking to watch. What once filled our yard with vibrant colors and life gradually faded, along with my mother’s excitement and joy in tending them.
Although there are still some orchids left at home, they are no longer as beautiful as they used to be. But hey, a few weeks ago, my mother shared that she wanted to start planting orchids again, and yesterday, she finally began.
She bought pots, charcoal, and coconut husk. When we plant orchids, those are the only materials we use. But before, my mother didn’t plant them in pots. She was just inspired to use pots after seeing that kind of planting style on Facebook. She also prefers it now because it looks cleaner and nicer.

She transferred the orchids into pots. First, she placed coconut husk and charcoal in the pots, then she transferred the orchids into them.

Honestly, I was really amazed by the result. The orchids she transferred into the pots look so beautiful. Although she hasn’t transferred all of them yet, at least she has slowly started. The surroundings of the house really look nicer when you have flowers around, you can’t help but smile, especially when you see them early in the morning.

I’m also thankful that she has gone back to planting again because I can see that she’s happy while transferring the orchids. At least she now has a new hobby to enjoy. As people grow older, they rarely get to feel that kind of excitement, but through her planting, she gets excited each day, especially when her orchids start to bloom.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
