Happy Tuesday Hivers!
We live in a rural area in Leyte where there are no nearby major banks. The closest banks in our area are only rural banks. Although the next municipality has other banks like BDO and Landbank, most of the bigger banking institutions can only be found in the city.
Last Monday, I received my final pay from my employer. It was delayed since it should have been released one month after the effectivity of my resignation, but it only came after six months. Still, I’m grateful that it was finally released.
Since my last pay wasn’t that large, I requested that my sibling pick it up since I am in Leyte. After receiving the check, my sibling tried to deposit it into my account, but the bank said it couldn’t be deposited and must be encashed instead.
Because of this, I decided to send it to Leyte instead, as traveling to Cebu would cost me a lot. Luckily, the child of my cousin happened to be visiting Leyte, so I was able to send it with them.

Since the bank where the check was issued is not available near our area, I still needed to travel to Ormoc because in Leyte, there are only two branches located in Ormoc City and Tacloban. Since Ormoc is closer, I decided to go there instead. I also had to spend around ₱300 for fare and travel for about 2.5 hours just to have it encashed.
This is one of the disadvantages of living far from the city, banks and malls are not easily accessible. However, living in a rural area also has its own charm, especially the peaceful environment and the nice view every day.
In the end, despite the expense and long travel, it was all worth it because I finally received my last pay, which I had been waiting for.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
