Meet the Little Boy with a Brilliant Mind for Mathematics

Happy Tuesday Hivers!

Today, we visited my mom’s brother, who lives in a remote area. His place is only about one town away from ours, but it is located quite far from the town center and surrounded by a more rural environment.

Aside from visiting him, we also went there to collect some soil for our garden. The soil in their area is really nice and fertile, which is one of the reasons we wanted to get some for our own garden.

Whenever they plant something, they can plant it directly into the ground because their soil is already healthy and suitable for growing plants. Unlike the soil in our area, which needs a little more preparation and improvement before we can grow certain plants.

That’s why we decided to bring some of their good soil home and add it to our garden.

When we arrived at my uncle's house, his eldest daughter (my first cousin) was there. Since my cousin's children were still at school, we had some time to chat. That was when I learned that her second child will be competing in Mathematics tomorrow.

He had already won at the Area Meet, and tomorrow, he will represent their school at the District Meet, where many schools will be competing.

I was amazed when she told me that during the competition, he was just so relaxed. He simply answered the questions, and when the results came out, he was the one who won.

What makes it even more amazing is that he is only in Grade 2, yet he already has such an incredible mind for Mathematics. He seems to have a natural talent for numbers.

This afternoon, his teacher gave him permission to rest at home and excused him from his afternoon classes so he could prepare for tomorrow's competition. While he was at home, he reviewed with his mom.

I was honestly amazed watching him work with numbers. He doesn't even need a calculator. He can do the calculations in his head so quickly, especially for a child his age. It really made me think that some children are simply gifted in certain areas and this little boy definitely seems to have a gift when it comes to Mathematics.

Before we left, I wished him good luck and told him that I hope he brings home the bacon.

But even if he doesn't win tomorrow, that's perfectly okay. Losing doesn't mean he failed. At such a young age, being able to compete with students from different schools is already a wonderful experience. He gets to challenge himself, meet other young students, and gain an experience that he can carry with him as he grows.

For me, winning is just a bonus. The real achievement is having the courage to compete and give his best. Good luck, little math genius! We are rooting for you!

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
