Is Soil Alone Enough for Plants? Check This Out

Our backyard has some trees, though not very many but when the leaves start to fall, they can really make the surroundings messy because they scatter all over the ground. That’s why we sweep every morning and afternoon. Sometimes, it can get quite tiring.

But now, I’ve come to appreciate having lots of fallen leaves because we actually use them. We’ve started planting, and we mix dry leaves into the soil we use for our plants. We place the dry leaves at the bottom first, then cover them with soil. This method helps improve the soil and makes the plants grow healthier.

This is what kept my mom and me busy yesterday. We transferred the dry leaves into individual pots and covered them with soil. After adding the soil, we watered them thoroughly. Then, we planted our seedlings spinach, tomatoes, and bell peppers.

One of the challenges we face in our area when planting is the weather, which can be quite extreme. Sometimes it gets extremely hot, and at other times, there is heavy rain. If the plants are exposed to too much heat or excessive rain, they can easily die.

Right now, as we are planting, the heat is really intense. That’s why it’s important to water them every day. Without enough water, the plants might not survive being exposed to strong sunlight.

Now, I’ve become more motivated,I actually look forward to more dry leaves falling. I no longer feel tired when collecting them because I know they can greatly help the plants.

I just hope that what we’ve planted now will survive the heat and, in time, grow healthy and bear plenty of fruits.
