At Last: The Fruit Trees We’ve Been Looking For

Our elder sister was able to purchase a piece of land. It’s not very large, but it’s quite spacious. After buying it, she planned to plant fruit trees. However, several months have already passed and we still haven’t planted any because we couldn’t find available fruit tree seedlings near our place.

We heard that there were some available at VISCA, but since it’s not close to our house, we couldn’t easily visit, especially when we’re busy.

When my mother and I finally went to VISCA, someone told us that there were fruit trees on display. So we decided to visit the area as well. That was their horticulture section for fruit trees.

It’s not located in the same area as the flower section. The flowers are in the upper campus, while the fruit trees are in the lower campus. So we had to walk quite a distance to reach the lower campus.

Even though we were still outside the gate, we immediately recognized the place because we saw so many fruit trees on display that were ready to be planted.

When we entered the gate, we were greeted by a man who is the caretaker and also the one who prepared the fruit trees that are ready for planting. He told us that he personally marcotted some of the fruit trees on display and then showed us the grafted ones.

There were so many different kinds of fruit trees on display, and each one was priced at PHP 150.00. Although we had been looking for these for a long time, we didn’t buy any yet because we didn’t have a vehicle to bring them home. It’s better to purchase them when you have a vehicle to avoid any transportation problems.

My mother and I agreed that next time, if we purchase any, we should get the marcotted ones, since they bear fruit more quickly compared to non-marcotted trees.

We were also happy with our visit to VISCA. Although we haven’t bought anything yet, at least we now know where to purchase orchids and fruit trees, and we have an idea of the prices.
