Yesterday, my husband and I had a wonderful afternoon in Radvaล village. The village is so peaceful and full of charm. We were invited by my husband's friend at work for the village โfiesta.โ
Actually, I cooked for our lunch. But his friends keep on calling him that we need to go. It's just me and my husband . Because Aya is not feeling well, the weather now is unpredictable and soon winter will come.
We don't have plans to go outside and yesterday was not planned. But sometimes the simplest days turn out to be memorable and in unexpected ways.
Village vibes. It's in the corner of the street.
So we visited not only the food but also the place's atmosphere. Like I said, it's a different festival, it was so simple. It's not the same in my hometown, the festival is grand, colorful and festive. Streets overflow with people, air filled with music from morning till night, there's also street dancing and more.
Here in the village of Radvaล , it was much simpler.
The gathering was in an empty land, not too big, cozy, and calm. They just put tables, chairs and tents. People sold food, drinks, homemade products and there were 5 tents selling foods and one for drinks.
The place was not crowded or even noisy. But there was a quiet joy to the whole place. In the Philippines and here are both different, different traditions and cultures.
When we arrived, there were two large hay bales that caught my attention and it was so cute. They were decorated like cheerful faces. One with a hat and the other with flowers and a pink scarf. It's like a smiling couple welcoming everyone into the gathering.
There were also hay bales in the back, so kids could play around. There were two people entertaining the kids. The kids were laughing and I don't understand it because it's in Hungarian language. It's in Slovakia but it's on the border of 2 countries and in the village they speak Hungarian.
Families, neighbors , the community gathered together. They talk and share stories while enjoying their food. It was clear that the people of Rad Van had a strong sense of community compared to our village. Like my husband says, he has more friends now in Rad Van. Since he transferred his job in the village, he is even more like the community.
We easily found our spot for lunch. One of my husband's colleagues was selling food. The food they served was simple like sausages, made with deer and pork meat. Although simple, the food tasted even better especially when shared with amazing company in this setting.
I really enjoyed the warmth of the sun, serene vibe and made me feel deeply relaxed. Compared to my hometown, Radvaล was very different and unique. Their festival felt more like a big family gathering. It was more relaxed, slow and intimate. Just a calm togetherness, no rush and no chaos.
Radvaล village is known for its farming and wineries. And the village is surrounded by green fields, trees and wide open spaces.
After lunch, my husband talked to his friends and I walked around a little to explore the village.
Different cultures have their different ways to celebrate yet both are beautiful in their own ways. Radvaล village proves that joy doesn't always come to grand events. And it is also found in simple gatherings. It's my new experience and I'm happy to be given this chance to immerse myself in the simplicity of village life.
Happiness that can be found in the simple moments.
