I learned how to eat a sandwich and so many more things on this GIFs only family trip to the Thai border with Cambodia ๐บ.
ย ย ย On the weekend we drove the Ape from Pramaoy to the Thai border beyond Thmor Da Waterfall, a tourist trap we won't be visiting again. However, a random picnic stop along the way might very well be the place we buy land.
ย ย ย We've got a lot of content from the trip to share with you all, but I wanted to start off this heap of Hive content with an all GIFs post. Our internet situation is not the best at the moment, and I can't earn enough from a 3Speak upload to offset the data costs, and this is where GIFs get a chance to shine.
ย ย ย The GIFs speak for themselves, a mix of fun and capturing Hive content for you all. The little water spiders in the above GIF were moving so fast that my eyes weren't able to process it, incredibly fast little things.
ย ย ย @sreypov is our chief insect photographer, and I love capturing her trying to capture images of nature, her facial expressions are priceless. It took some patience, but she got incredible images of these butterflies.
ย ย ย A good trip must be equal parts fun and play, so we all made sure to have fun in the cool mountain waters. It was so refreshing, and the weather has been particularly hot lately, so it couldn't have been a better time to go.
ย ย ย When our almost teen Srey-Yuu is smiling, you know we're having a good time. You can even read her lips as she mutters "what?" As if this kiddo doesn't know that Hive pays the bills these days.
ย ย ย I am so glad the family got some rest and relaxation, but most of all we think we may have found land to buy. It is five times more money than we have to spend, but I am hopeful we can some find some investors, because five times what we have is play money to many people we know that aren't in our economic situation.
ย ย ย Stay tuned for more content, I even shot GoPro footage, so here's a taste of it with this HALO Trust landmine removal vehicle. There were landmines everywhere along the road on this trip, a subtle reminder this is Cambodia, not Disneyland. A misplaced footstep on a roadside pee break could end with explosive results.
..
hehehe..... before commenting first I apologize, and please forgive me because my comment is a bit excessive..
your facial expression when learning to eat the cake.... your face is exactly the same as a catfish muzzle hahaha....
oops I almost forgot another one, @sreypov's face is the same as a catfish muzzle... haha โโ.. this time I'm really entertained with what you present... my pal @justinparke
the butterfly in front of @sreypov looks like he is very spoiled, and I will also wait for the butterfly episode from @sreypov
please let @sreypov know that I am one of his toughest opponents in the butterfly shooting section... hahahaa....
Haha, I had the idea to pretend not knowing how to eat a sandwich, so I told Pov to start filming. There were two kinds of butterflies there we've never seen before in Cambodia, but the more beautiful ones never stopped flying, and the orange/white ones would only stop for one second at a time, making photography nearly impossible. We just had to sit still with the phone ready to click, then time it perfectly.
I think you and Pov are both very good insect photographers, the two of you could easily make a coffee table book of all your beautiful images.
Clear waterfall, nice to play. Summer, my family and I miss the waterfall. you make me jealous haha. ๐๐
Your sandwich made me hungry in the evening. Want to eat something other than rice. you eat it deliciously. You make me jealous again haha.๐๐
Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your story.
We saw on Google Maps there is a big waterfall on the Thai side too, but for now the border crossing is just a trail through the forest, only open for Cambodian and Thai citizens. COVID has kept this border completely closed though for now.
The sandwiches are a fun road-trip snack, fried bean curd skin with lots of chilies, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Rice is good on the road too, but sometimes on a quick day trip we don't want to bring the stove along.
There are many waterfalls here, but many people come to play waterfalls and covids make me not travel in places with many people.
My youngest son is autistic child who cannot learn to live by themselves It's hard to take care of him from COVID. in a place with a lot of people.

Looks like heaven on earth. I am super happy for you but I am super jealous as well haha.
Love the gifs. The spiders freak me out but the butterflies around the wife are delightful along with the cooling off in water gifs all complete with a smile from the teen. Good luck with your land purchasing.
I think the biggest gem was to Srey-Yuu smiling, that doesn't happy very often. I know she thinks I am a dork, and I am no doubt, but those people are the most fun. Fingers crossed we get some land along that creek.
That's hilarious. If I had a dad like you when I was growing up, my friends would have said I had the coolest dad ever haha.

Such a beautiful place.. it's sometimes great to have limitations which can get our creativity juices in our brain up.. I can imagine how fast data runs out...
๐๐ Wow.. it's really hard to imagine the amount of landmines that still is on land.. at the moment..
I once heard an interview with a famous artist a long time ago, and he said the worst thing to have is no limitations when it comes to art. If someone just told this guy to make some "good art," he wouldn't know what to do, but tell him a price limit, where it will be displayed, etc., then the creative juices start flowing.
Our only concern about this area are the landmine dangers, but it's kind of an unspoken rule in Cambodia to not venture off the trail.
hahahaha... I somehow had a laugh looking at that.. I guess.. unlimited of something really makes life boring I guess in a way.. So there should be some meaning in life like passion for something other than just for monetary gains. I can imagine someone being super duper wealthy and getting really bored in life. Minecraft's creator just to name one..
I guess limitations gets us to fight.. I think that's what's happening in Ukraine. Russians have more tanks and manpower but have a lot.. Ukrainians.. are defending their homeland.
I will google to find out how much of those landmines still remain today.

The water is clean and clear. That is good time to enjoy the nature. I remember the river in my hometown. It was clear and clean but today, I think in the rainy season the color will be brownish because of the land's erosion on the mountain.
Most of the waters in Cambodia are brown for the same reason, but high in the mountains it is mostly government land and forest, so the rivers are very cool and clean.
Is that banh-mi you we're eating Sir @justinparke ? Yummeh๐
I enjoy all the GIF images ๐ฅฐ take me there too pls ๐คฉ๐ those running fresh water is so cool & fun for the family bonding. Take care out there guys โค๏ธ
Similar-ish to Banh Mi, but the sandwiches are kind of an invention of mine. I do like Banh Mi, and sometimes we make pickled carrots, daikon, and even a homemade pate to do our version, but these sandwiches are bean curd skin stir-fried with onions, garlic, chilies, ginger, shredded carrots, etc. We make the stuffing at home and then assemble on the road with fresh cucumbers chilies, and lime/juice soy sauce. A perfect snack for a relaxing day on the water.
Omg while reading it now, I felt craving right now Sir @justinparke ๐๐ thanks for replying to my comment ๐คโบ๏ธ
I really like what you have posted maybe I think you quite enjoy the trip with your family and I am very happy to see that you and your family really enjoy the trip Did you and your family really enjoy the trip?
That is an interestingly long way to ask a simple question, but yest we enjoyed the trip as is made clear in the post body.
thank you for responding to my comments. if there is an error I'm sorry I say a thousand thanks for your attention hopefully you can always carry out your activities well
looks like a nice trip. How heavily guarded was that border? I'm not trying to sneak across or anything I'm just curious if there is a fence or anything like that.
The borders of Cambodia are very porous, and only 100 meters to the north or south there are gravel roads that just cross over into Thailand, and they are hardly patrolled on the Cambodian side. The times I've traveled to Bangkok from Cambodia, I use Khmer migrant transport services, and I notice those vans get stopped at military checkpoints all along the way, subject to a lot of scrutiny.
you visit one place can get some good content, including your family, great idea, moreover the place is good for recreation, with clear water.
It is a little slice of heaven, can't believe we have a small chance at getting some land there.
Omg what a wonderful Gif post. Super nice to see that. Thanks for sharing this moments with us. ๐๐ผ๐โจโค๏ธ
I love GIFs, especially when we find ourselves paying by the GB for internet. My post payouts aren't good enough to justify a 3speak upload under the current circumstances, I would probably have net loss of $5 per video ๐.
GIFs to the rescue though, and with good text GIFs can really add to a story, even if only 4 or 5 seconds long.
A cool waterfall and butterflies. It couldn't get any better than this for a good day out. :)
We are having fun exploring all the new places around our new little outpost town.
Love the little videos. How do you post that? I haven't figured out anything beyond photos.
The short videos are GIFs, a special file type that seems to upload to Hive without issue as long as they're smaller than 14MB each. I wouldn't recommend creating them in Shotcut, the program I use, unless you're a bit computer savvy. Otherwise, there are plenty of websites that can help you create them online. Giphy being the top one I can think of.
Thanks for the info. I'm so not tech savvy. Will stick to photos for now ๐ค
I can tell that you enjoyed the clear waters and the trip, who wouldn't be with those sceneries!
It was incredible, and there aren't many places in the mountains of Cambodia with proper roads and electricity.
It was enjoyed time and cool place! I wanted to go again with my lovely family.
We'll be back this weekend if things go as we planned.
