While Srey-Yuu was busy perfecting her badminton skills, us spectators got bored, so I began placing sticks in between Monkey-B's toes.
Anytime Srey-Yuu senses the lens is focused on her, she will usually block her face or attempt to ruin the photo in some way. Well I have learned that when she's pleasantly distracted she will happy tolerate photos, and badminton requires so much focus that she wasn't able to evade my photography attempts.
She was obviously amused by the situation, at least that's what the look on her face says. Monkey-B is busy in the background hydrating and wishing for better hand-eye coordination.
While watching big sister play badminton, I looked over at Monkey-B and realized she's practically all grown-up. I wonder where my little Monkey-B went, the years passed by so quickly, but luckily she's still my buddy. We still do things together that big sister and mom usually don't like such as taking natural showers at the river and watching educational animal videos in the morning.
My daughters are full of personality, and after all these years of spending lots of time with them and putting massive efforts in, they have a very different worldview and life attitude than the average Cambodian. I never intended it, and didn't even speak much English with them for the first couple years we were together, but now English is the language they choose to speak with each other mostly, and they say this is because they are better able to convey their true feelings in English.
The badminton action started to heat up again, but the spectators (consisting of only Monkey-B and myself) weren't having enough fun just watching the action, so I began collecting twigs to use in a foot-related courtside art project.
Monkey-B didn't know what my plan was, but when I began placing the twigs in between her toes, she realized we'd stumbled upon a game of our own. After putting a few twigs in, she was able to hold them up with some extreme toe grip, and I realized this was going to be primo Hive content.
After loading up the toes I began taking shots with an attempt to place some bokeh badminton in the background. It actually kind of worked, and I think I made what a non-digital NFT would look like, or maybe it's just a foot with sticks, art is really subjective isn't it?
It's clear that Monkey-B and I share a pretty bizarre sense of humor, but it's good to embrace the silly. Without some laughter and fun with the girls each day, I don't know how I'd find the motivation to keep pushing forward and struggling to provide for them.
Oh, and in case you didn't already know, the @kidsisters profile that was once shared by my daughters is now defunct because they are going on separate Hive journeys. @srey-yuu and @sakana are the accounts to follow now, and although @srey-yuu posts often, @sakana only recently finished her re-intro after working on it for many weeks.
Alright, it's 1 am, I must get to bed and wake up at 5:20am to take the kids to school. I was going to try to post 7 days a week, but only managed two consecutive days before I ended cooking all the family meals for a couple of days. I promised the kids samosas for breakfast, so I might even have to wake up a little earlier, guess it's back to burning the candle at both ends 🤷♂.
the game of badminton is indeed very popular with children, during our childhood maybe we all must have felt the game about badminton, even in my childhood, when I was playing badminton I often forgot the time to go home, because I played badminton. badminton at my friend's place, in fact I was once chased by my mother with a broom stick to beat myself because I didn't go home and I lost track of time, why did I lose track of time because badminton was very fun in my childhood in the past, even though that day I was chased by my mother and beat me because I lost track of time, the next day the same thing I did I also forgot the time and forgot study hours because the game was very fun,
but in this post only your daughter is seen alone while her opponent is not visible, with whom was your daughter playing badminton at that time....
but it looks like your daughter looks very happy from the look on her face she is very happy.
Well, when you're having fun as a child, almost nothing can stop you, haha, and my daughters are the same.
You mention her opponent, and I can't remember who it was to be honest, but I think one of the neighbor kids. None of them are good enough to get a volley started, so Srey-Yuu is always asking me to play with her.
And here I thought you were going to take a break...
I enjoyed your post though. I think you and I have a similar taste in humor too
and I really enjoyed playing badminton too, in the past.
By the way, this place ( Hive ) is really like Hotel California, I feel.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
Every time I feel burnt out or like becoming less active on here, I soon after can't stop myself from returning with full force.
I guess it doesn't help that I have so many good friends on here :<)
Big hug!
You're right about humor and Hive, and speaking of that, I have been meaning to drop by your blog for far too long but life has just been overwhelming, engagement has gone out the window with many other things. In a strange twist of fate, we may have our sights set on Portugal for EU passports, our US visa seems all but dead and hopeless at this point, but the D7 Self-Employed visa seems like something we might be able to get, currently doing research.
With an EU passport, the family would have border and visa freedom for international travel, and they could also eventually visit the USA if my parents are still alive that many years into the future. It seems like we have to spend 6 months a year minimum there to maintain residency, so I would hope we could winter in Albania and live much cheaper and spend the warmer months in Portugal. Our property here in Cambodia could be the tool to help us get this visa. Stay tuned....
Yeah, I'm seeing Monkey-B gradually swapping her "baby-face" to an older girl 🙈.
Same goes for, I express myself way easier in English than in Dutch and often times I know the English word of something and I see myself trying to remember the DUtch word for it 😅.
Yep, my little girls is becoming a pre-teen, and she sure hates being called one 😉. Funny how our environment affects our language, here in Cambodia I sometimes talk in Khmer to myself when planning out the day, and there's no logical reason for it, and when I notice myself doing it I stop immediately and think in English.
Interesting... I don't know much about the Kmer language, but does it maybe have to do with fewer meaning or fewer options, which makes it easier to think to yourself?
When I read/hear stories like these, I could kick myself for not studying languages, because these stories of how languages evolve, mix, etcetera are so interesting.

It looks like it was a pretty fun day spent outside with the girls! And it got you some great photos. Wins all around!
My youngest has been my buddy, too, but now that he's 13 he doesn't much care for the things we used to do, like go hike through parks and find new places to adventure. I'm sad, but he's still my buddy. I can still chase him around the house.
That day has kind of already arrived with our oldest, Srey-Yuu. She used to be my adventure buddy when Monkey-B was too small, but now we talk about podcasts and other boring adult stuff.
Wow, that was so fun.
I like to play Badminton, although I always lose when I play againts my brother.
But I believe I will win if I play one match with Srey-yu. 😁😁
I will tell Srey-Yuu, but she might disagree 😉.
Hahaha...😂😂
I hope your child @srey-yuu can play hard and seriously so that later he can become a professional badminton player. Good luck.
You never know, anything is possible, she does enjoy sports very much, but there aren't many opportunities here for girls to engage in organized sports.
Hmmm... The toe stick decor suddenly reminds of wolverine 🤪
That wasn't in my mind at the time, but good point. I honestly don't know what I was thinking, just bored, but realized it was a good photo opportunity after I wolverinized her.
ahhhh..., those rare Srey-Yuu smiles! 😊 OMG, I love that first 'pensive' shot of Monkey-B! 💛
I am always telling the girls to just keep doing what they were doing when I take pics, but it's never natural. The only way to get natural shots are to hang out with my phone for 10 minutes while pretending to take pics, and then once I've been forgotten I start snapping away.
Your area is nice, it has a wide space where you can do lots of activities.
Very true, a popular vacation destination, so we can find little reason to leave when we have a holiday.

May your children be what you expect them to be. They both look so pretty
They have their good moments and bad ones, but overall I am lucky to be their father.
Every child really wants to have a good father figure, You are very lucky to have a beautiful daughter
