Fruit and vegetable carving is the art of shaping fruits and vegetables into decorative designs by cutting, sculpting, and arranging them. It’s often used for presentation and garnishing in culinary arts, and other festive displays.
As a teacher of Technology and Livelihood Education for the past 11 years, it has been my passion to teach my students some skills that they could use throughout their lives. Part of the curriculum before was the fruit and vegetable carving that my students enjoyed and learned. Today I will share some of those photos from the past that I treasure until today.
These photos were some of the random shots I took during my students' presentations of their outputs. They were very resourceful, innovative, creative, and easy to teach and manage. They worked hard and did their best to present simple yet beautiful enough outputs.
Students 5 years ago were competitive and very particular with their ratings. I loved how they evaluated the rubrics of their rating in every activity they do. They were asking a lot, and they listened and were open to ideas.
They made flowers out of carrots, and they made plate seam designs out of eggplants.
Someone made a parrot out of a pineapple, a snowman made of an orange, and a garland out of a cucumber.
A beautiful peacock was made out of a cucumber and eggplant, and a swan was made of an apple.
An apple was made into a crab, and a gourd was made into a beautiful green flower. And I just love their creativity. It was a joy in my heart that those young people had learned something from my classes.
Wherever they may be today, I hope they still remember that once upon a time in their lives as my student, they showcases their skills, creativity and resourcefulness.
Thank you for reading this blog. Have a wonderful day everyone.
Fruit and vegetable carvings are an enjoyable preparation for making different kinds of things that art produces. Our creativity hones this kind of task and this is very useful during special events showcasing your talent.
Few are inclined to this food decoration as it takes special effort and patience to do this. I am saying this because I used to do it when I was in grade school during our home economics and in high school in our practical arts subjects respectively.
Thanks for showcasing the skills of your students in this aspect. God bless you @jeanieviv84.
Hello, ate @diosarich, you are one of the best artists I know. Thanks for reading my work, ate. They were enjoying the activity po, ate, and I was enjoying it too. Kahit na nasa far-flung barangay po ang school namin, I always wanted my students to learn more about practical things that they can use in real-life situations.
It's been a while dear @jeanieviv84. I am humbled by your loving appreciation of my artwork. I am happy that you go out of your shell to impart your creativity to these kids. I love those creations that they produced.
Do you also teach other forms of artwork aside from culinary designs?
Looking forward to hearing from you. Let's talk about other forms of art and I will impart with you some of my designs.
God bless you and your family, dear @jeanieviv84.💖🌹
