Remembering Our Love Ones: All Souls Day

All Souls' Day is a special time when we remember the people we love who are no longer with us. It is a moment to pause, offer prayers, light candles, and reflect on the memories we shared with them. Although they are no longer physically present, the love and memories they left behind will always remain in our hearts.
We visit the cemetery every year, and yesterday we planned to visit on evening. But, before heading to the cemetery, we had our dinner together at home. Our father makes it a tradition to prepare food every year during this occasion. Somehow, it has also become a simple family bonding moment for us.
This year, however, only a few of us were able to gather because our mother and some of our siblings were in the province. We decided not to travel back home this time because of the expensive transportation fares, especially with the increasing cost of fuel.
After dinner, we finally headed to the cemetery to light candles and offer prayers for our departed love ones. We made sure to visit each of their resting places one by one. The relatives we visited in Cebu were mostly from our father's side of the family. Since we couldn't visit the resting places of our loved ones from our mother's side, we simply offered prayers for them instead.
In our family, we are not really used to bringing food to the cemetery. We prefer having our meals together at home before visiting our departed loved ones. For us, the important thing is to spend time remembering them and offering our prayers.
After lighting the candles and saying our prayers, we stayed for a little while longer. We took some time to sit and spend a quiet moment before finally heading home. It was already getting late, and there were still so many people visiting the cemetery.
It was a simple evening, but one filled with family time, memories, and prayers. All Souls' Day reminds us that even though our loved ones are no longer beside us, they will always have a special place in our hearts.
