Let's Celebrate Saints Not Demons: Bringing Children Closer To God

Hello, dear Hivers!

I just want to share something about Halloween. Honestly, I'm not really into attending Halloween parties because I feel uncomfortable with the idea of celebrating characters associated with demons and evil spirits, especially when I see children dressing up in those kinds of costumes.

Yesterday, I came across Father’s post about Halloween, and it really made me think. I believe Father Dag is right. Instead of encouraging children to dress up as demons or scary characters, why don't we encourage them to dress up as Saints? Wouldn't that be more meaningful?

It would also be a wonderful opportunity to teach our children about the Saints they represent, share their stories, and let them learn about the good things these holy people did during their lives. In that way, children can have fun while learning valuable lessons about faith, kindness, and goodness.

I understand that Halloween has already become a tradition for many people, and I respect that. But I hope we can slowly bring back the tradition of celebrating All Saints' Day in a more meaningful way by focusing on the Saints rather than scary and evil characters.

In these times, I believe our children need more guidance and encouragement to reconnect with the Church. Nowadays, it seems that fewer children are attending Mass regularly. Some would say that praying at home is enough. Yes, we can certainly pray anywhere, but attending Mass and being present in the Church is also an important part of our faith. There is something special about gathering as a community, listening to God's Word, and receiving His blessings.

What do you think, dear Hivers? Would you agree that it's time to bring back a more meaningful way of celebrating Halloween by allowing our children to dress up as Saints and learn about their lives instead?

Let's make this celebration not just about costumes and fun, but also about faith, good values, and bringing our children closer to God.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog!
