Hi!It's me again..It's been days I havent posted any blogs. I've been very busy lately. Now that class has officially started, I've been busy balancing my work life and family life.
A week before classes opened, I have to prepare my room and make sure it is safe for the learners. From fixing and repainting old furniture, to throwing away old stuff and organizing tools in my shop..It was tiring though because I did the cleaning alone. As you can see, the furniture are too bulky and heavy. Good thing I have strong muscles to shift them anywhere 🤣. Yes, I teach cosmetology to both junior and senior high school students. And it's fulfilling to see these kids learn skills and be able to earn at the same time because of their acquired skills.
As a teacher for almost 15 years, the experience has made me understand the students more. Understanding them is crucial for effective teaching and guidance.** When you love them, thy would love you back**. It's overwhelming sometimes when you run into them and they still recognize you.
These are my grade 12 students. They've been with me since grade 11. Their chosen program is good for 4 semesters.
As usual, I arrived early. My shift starts at 8am and ends at 5pm. Our school has 3 shifts. Grades 7 & 10, morning shift, grades 8 & 9 afternoon shift and the senior high school is on a regular shift. Before I arrived in my school, I have to send off my son to his school which is just a distance from my school.
Every Monday, we hold our flag raising ceremony. Since it was the first day of school of 2025, there was a short orientation for the students. An introduction of teachers was also done for the new students.
Of course, I literally CANNOT start my day without a dose of caffeine. It has become a part of my system already. Had I not worked on a graveyard shift before, I wouldn't have been a coffee drinker. Honestly, I was not into coffee in the past. But due to my previous job working from 10pm to 6am, of course, you would need something to keep you awake.. And for 2 decades, coffee has never been NOT a part of me anymore.. And I tell you, when I was pregnant I was still drinking coffee hahaha..Well, at least my kids are healthy because I didn't miss my trips to my ob-gyne anyway.. I don't know. It's not really about the caffeine, but it's the peace I get while sipping my cup of coffee..
I was suprised by my principal by giving me this birthday cake.. So it was a late birthday gift because my birthday is actually in April. But i get to celebrate it with the teachers celebrating in June..(And the cake was yummy too!)
And as a coordinator, I have to reorient the teachers in enrolling the students in the system. So, I am back to being super busy again aside from the usual classroom instruction. But anyways, being in the industry for 15 years have made me more adjusted and never let stress eat me. Students are not hard to work with. You just have to discover their strengths and make the most out of it and understand their weaknesses and worked on it and improve it.
Anyway, this is all for today!See yah in my next blog!!!
Goodluck po

Vacation is too quick and now teachers are back again in reality. Thankyouu teachers for teaching our students.
Fifteen years and still going strong, that’s no small feat. I agree with what you said, understanding your students is the key. When they feel seen and supported, they thrive and clearly, you’re creating that kind of environment.🤗
Teaching is making me feel young I guess haha..I just hope I still have the same vibe when I reach 20 or 25 years in service haha..
I’m sure with your passion and dedication, you’ll still have that same spark even after 25 years in the service.😍
