Harvesting Activities at Our Neighbor's Fish Pond

IMG_20240921_114807.jpg

It was a lovely and wonderful day I had today because of some exciting activities I've attended this morning. But it was only visiting the fish pond at our neighbor's place. This was my first time to see in actual harvesting the telapia fish. I always passing by here in the areas but I am not expected that they do fish harvesting at the pond. 8 in the morning when they started to do harvesting, it will be perfect to do the harvesting early in the morning so that there will not an intense heat. I also remembered this place the time when we worked here digging for a pond. This pond is what we dug many years has past, the depth of this pond reach above the knee and will be perfect to put lots of fish in the pond.

There are lots of ponds in this place even if there are lots of coconut trees planted and grows. It takes a few days before this pond was completely done. Supplying lots of water here is very easy because near at the pond is the Water Canal used for irrigations. We also dug some water channels connected to the Irrigation canal straight to the Pond so that water can get through to the Pond.

The wideness of the pond are not all equally in sizes. There are some fish ponds that has a long and narrows areas but it is filled with lots of fish. Aside of that, lots of ornamental plants also grows in the place to keep more attractive. Some of the plants can be seen and found here are T-Plant, Bougonvilla Plants. Few coconut trees were the roots was already reach by water. A narrow road trail for people that served as a road leading to there houses.

Culturing lots of telapia fish here at the pond is one of the source of income of my neighbor here but they faced a great challenge of their lives because some of the telapia fish died. As of that, they decided to do harvesting and get the rest. They don't know what is the cause of the Problem. The pond is surrounded with lots of trees just like Balete tree. It keeps the place cool, relaxing and have a shady place. Digging a pond is not really easy, it needs time and effort to do the job specially when we do tunneling. With the help of those tunnels, the water can reach the other side of the pond. We put nets at the end of the bamboo tube so that the fish cannot escape.

This morning, they drained the water at the pond first so that the fish can easily caught. After that, they manually fetched the water and transferred to the other side of the pond. Using shovel, they shoveled the mud and stepped inside of the pond so that the fish will comes out. Nets are properly place attached by the bamboo, it helps to catch the fish in easy way when harvesting time came. They removed the muds sticking at the fishing nets so it will easily put and attached to the bamboo post. Small fish will put afterwards inside of the net.

This are the telapia fish they caught during harvesting. Those fish are very big and it will be sale to the Market at a great and expensive price at about 350 Pesos per Kilo. It takes a few hours of harvesting and as they harvested 100 big telapia fish at the Pond. This kind of business is one of good business in life and the only important thing to do is to have time, fucos and hardworks towards success.

Thank you for visiting and reading my post, have a nice day everyone.

Tilapia fish is one of my favorite fish when you fried it with some spicy soy sauce. Whenever I imagine about eating fried tilapia fish, my mouth is drooling.
