It was my very first time to participate in this kind of activity involving crowd control of passengers who will ride the barge going to the Island Garden City of Samal. It was a good experience to begin with in this Lenten Season in the Philippines. Filipinos observe holidays for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday and Easter Sunday as the reminder of the final week of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ.

As you can see on this picture the police dog or the bomb sniffing dog a K9 unit checked the baggages of the passengers to make sure the safety and security of the passengers riding the barge.

The passengers were instructed to place their bags on the side for the K9 to check on it one by one.

The passengers cooperated with the given instructions and it was for their own good.

The police dog did its job very well as well as its handler.

Only 40 passengers including children are allowed to get inside while others are waiting outside. Actually I felt pity for the situation of the passengers waiting outside as it was really hot and they need to wait about 30 minutes before they can come inside and be able to find a seat.

My cousin also one of the officers of the Philippines Coast Guard Auxiliary was assigned at the door for the passenger's crowd control she was assisted by the criminology intern students. She said that she like her post as she feel that she has a purpose to be there and that she is useful.

The k9 unit reviewed the checking of baggages just to double check for everyone's security and safety.

The bomb sniffing dog is well trained by its handler.

One of the passenger has a heart of gold she freely gave a cold snack on stick to the Philippines Coast Guards organic and to few Criminology interns.

The passenger paid for it as a gratitude to the service rendered by the Coast Guards and interns.

The waiting line reached this point and it was at noon time so it was so hot outside.

The organic assigned a task to the auxiliaries to distribute flyers to the passengers.

The flyers serve as friendly reminders to the do's and don'ts.

The passengers also listed their names for the head count and insurance.

Those who ride motorcycles and cars were also requested manifest.

Photos are mine.
