Realizations of a Ninang the Second Time Around
After a long hiatus in writing, I've found myself sitting and reflecting on the past months, particularly in coming to a point in my life that I have now taken the role of a Ninang or godmother at weddings.
When I got married and had children of my own in my twenties, my life welcomed the world of Christenings and kids' parties both as a host and guest, which from time to time I would also have the honor to be a godmother. I got used to it and it really came naturally.
But nearly becoming 40 (Yes, in 2 years time, I'll be one!), and being invited as a Ninang (Filipino word for godmother) of a wedding couple makes me conscious that I am reaching a big milestone in my life.
As I reflect on it, I am beyond grateful that God has given me the gift of life to spend with my family - to experience how it is to live. Surely, life is full of hardships, but it is also showered with many blessings. And I'm just in awe how far I've come as a woman, wife, and mother.
They say life begins at 40, and probably it is - a life that is a level-up version of one's old self. But before that, in my experience I have to go through a midlife crisis.
The past months, this year, have been extremely hard, the hardest so far (with a question mark) for reasons I am not yet open to share.
But yeahhhh... My experience pushed me to question my decisions and the path I've taken. It pushed me to the edge.
But I'm thankful that despite everything, I am still here. Thank you, Lord.
Anyway, I want to share some snaps from the wedding.
Here's a photo of me and my eldest. He's my plus one at the wedding. Oh my! Time flies so fast!
Here's another Ninang pose. I love dressing up. It's a big deal for me as I usually just wear house clothes because I work from home.
Here's a glimpse from the wedding ceremony. I love this couple! They are really an inspiration especially to the youth.

What a beautiful celebration! I used to be excited in such event because of the food. But now, I realized that weddings are mesmerizing. The walk of the bride to the aisle, the vows, and the important people around the couple are truly heartwarming.
