An Egg-citing Morning with 700 Ducks: A Real Life After Rice Harvest

Hello, hivers! Today I want to tell you what a normal day looks like for us her in the farm, right after the rice harvest. This is our life and I’m excited to share the moments with my daughter Morning Belle, a 3 years old kid.

After we finished harvesting our rice, things did not slow down around here. In fact, things got even more lively! My father-in-law brought home about 700 ducks, as we call them, bibi duck. He let them roam right in front of our small house here in the farm, they are happy quacks. 🦆🐣

It’s honestly so fun to watch. These ducks can help us in daily lives, they roam the field, eat the leftovers grains and then every morning they give us fresh eggs.

Today started like this: the sun was barely up, and my child was already wide awake, excited to help with the eggs. He jumped out of bed, grabbed a small wood storage, we followed her outside.

The field was cool and fresh, we walked towards the duck area with my father-in-law and began checking the nesting spots. My little one was so focused, carefully picking up eggs and placing them one by one in the wood storage. He kept counting and smiling. It was not just a task; It was a moment we shared as a family.
When we got back, we saw my mother-in-law already cleaning some of the eggs. She smiled and said, we will get how many we want egg because it’s free only. This is a blessing when you are near with your in-laws, it’s true fresh egg for breakfast is always a blessing.

They sell the eggs too, 10 pesos each and some are turned into balut, which their customers love and favorite. This is how we make a little extra after harvest season. And today, my child got experience all of it. She saw where the eggs cam from, helped in the coaction and understand that hard work and nature gives us food.
While other kids are maybe watching TV or playing games, my child is learning real life, right here with us.

Of course, not every day is easy. Sometimes it rains, sometimes we get tire. But that’s life in the province. We help each other, taught together and support one another. My father-in-law patiently teaches us how to take care of the ducks. How to feed them properly and even how to make balut.

Were learning as we go, and honestly, it’s exciting.

And before we eat breakfast, we can say. ‘Thanks God, because this is what life I dreamed of, a simple, peaceful and full of real blessings, after harvest we enjoy moments like this, where even our food, like fresh egg comes from our own backyard. Truly grateful for life rooted in love and nature.
