Greetings ASEAN Hivers, sacred spaces are never far in Southeast Asia, so show me your spirit houses, temples, graves, anywhere that might be considered sacred.
Β Β Β For this week's challenge I want to see sacred spaces, and that can be ancient ruins, gravestones, stupas, temples, shrines, even the tiny spirit houses that are common in Buddhist parts of Southeast Asia. Perhaps you have a daily or weekly ritual that you perform at your sacred space, or perhaps your sacred space is the place where you meditate or do yoga inside your home. The rules are, as always, very flexible and welcoming.
Β Β Β The wide variety of languages, cultures, and religions are sure to make this challenge interesting. As always, the story is just as important as the images, so don't forget to provide details because readers may not be familiar with your country or religion. I am particularly interested to see things related to folk and animistic beliefs that pre-date the arrival of Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism.
Β Β Β From battery banks to candles and rechargeable fans, you all showed many ways to gracefully go though electricity-less times. I was surprised to see some creative DIY projects that also make up part of our ASEAN Hivers' power cut kits. I recommend you have a browse and explore and support anything of interest.
As mentioned in the Community Challenge Post announcement, power cuts isn't rare in most Southeast Asian countries... and that includes here in the Philippines. It's quite a struggle especially for me who works from home and has no power source backup or generator. I'd have to cancel my classes if an outage occurred while I'm working. Well, I could be excused from paying a penalty by procuring an outage certificate, but of course, I still won't get paid.
It seems a big problem when darkness envelopes us. Honestly, I can't breathe when there's no light when I sleep at night hence I see to it that we have some devices in the absence of one. My DIY Light Backups. I am quite good when it comes to artistic lights. My imagination runs wild especially in making unique DIYs.
I super relate to this Challenge, now. This happened in December 2021, when Thypoon Odette landed in our City, totally black out for more than a month. Many electric poles fell down almost all in the City and Municipalities nearby. On the first day we bought candles from nearby stores, but soon the price went up and the supply was scarce, so, we bought dozens and dozens of candles at the factory in the next three Municipality from us.
Β Β Β Delegators are valued members of our community, so each @asean.hive curation post (other than the main weekly delegator raffle post) features a mini delegator raffle in the footer, with the winner receiving 15% post beneficiary.
Congratulations to all winners. To bad I wasnβt able to join because I donβt have a phone and itβs hard to type using an iPad. Anyway, I wish I could join this sacred place challenge. How I wish.
My wife loves typing on her iPad, but I am too used to a pc keyboard, I'm even more hopeless with a phone and my fat thumbs, haha.
Wow, Sacred spaces are so meaningful. Canβt wait to see everyoneβs unique spots and stories
These challenges always provide me great insight into Southeast Asian lives.
