Living on the outskirts of the city has its perks. One of my favorite things to do is take a walk in the countryside, just a few minutes from our home in the barangay. The far end of our neighborhood offers a breathtaking view — rolling hills, peaceful rivers, and a vast sky filled with clouds. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Last week, I decided to go for a hike on my own because I want to have an entry to our community challenge #letsgoforawalk hosted by our very own admin @justinparke.
I love the quiet and solitude of it, but my husband, ever the caring partner, didn’t want me to go alone because the place is not frequented with people and just for my safety He offered to join me as my personal body guard but suggested riding our motorbike. His idea was that if I got too tired or the sun got too hot, I could hop on and head back. Hayyyy, how did I ever get so lucky having a husband who is so caring, loving and also very supportive plus a hunk of a guy! Hahaha, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder as what they say, you have got to love your own! Right!😍😍😍
Well back to my walk for I am running against the deadline of submission. So off I go. The sun was
Already beaming and dashingly showing off his awesome-handsome brightness😍🌞😎
I so love the view of the river. Wide open space stretching up the mountains.
Then there is a steel bridge going to the other side of the river. This is truly answered prayers for the residents on the far end of our barangay so they can pass by the river easily specially during the monsoon months when the river gets so feisty and moody... Hahaha
Devouring anything in its path.
After crossing the bridge, you have to walk on dirt road. There is a hill on the side of the road and the local government placed a covering to prevent soil erosion since this is the main road for beside it is the rivers path already. Hubby is trailing just right behind me, stopping on a shadowed area checking the internet everytime he stops... Hahaha
Just kept walking admiring the beauty in front of me, a breath taking view of the mountain. The red colored clayish soil beneath my feet just, the houses on top of the hills. There is also a big building opposite the mountains from where I started my walk. This is a mountain View resort still Part of our barangay but it has a different route going there.
They widened this part of the dirt road because there is an ongoing construction of a solar farm above the mountains. They even built this bridge for the easy access of their cargoes and construction materials.
As I was approaching the bridge I saw a cow and it greeted me. He was very friendly. So I called him and he went to me. He let me Pat his head, rub his back and neck.
Suddenly out if nowhere another cow also came and he was big!! I got scared for his face wasn't that friendly, he looks angry so I ran! Hahaha. But then they looked at me both with a bewildered look! Hahaha
He wanted to have a good rubbing too! So I hesitated on going near them but they kept on mowing towards me. Hubby kept laughing and telling me, he will bite you! Hahaha.
This is my very first encounter with two big cows. So I was really scared. They kept pushing me asking for their rubs!😍😍😍
After our bonding, I said my goodbyes and then continued on my happy walk. Laughing all the way, I can't believe I made new friends with cows! Hahaha
Then we passed by more dirt road. This time it was muddy for it rained the night before. Hubby had a bit of a hard time maneuvering along the muddy road. Then passed by the elementary school for the local tribe, The Aetas. This area where I am headed is their resettlement area.
Then continued my walk and got to the far end by the river but I was then greeted by another four legged friend. Our very first meeting and yet he felt like we were friends for ages. The dog kept jumping and jumping all over me. He was just so happy, barking happily. Then I said what is happening. Then comes the chickens too, I didn't have photos of then but there were a group of them near us too. As if greeting me too. What the?!!!I was laughing my heart out for I don't know what's happening! Hubby took a video of me and thus new found friend again.
Then I came to the river and saw women washing clothes. Manual washing, these are the women on some of the Aetas. They have abundant water no need to pay some water bill. The river was calm and so beautiful.
There were kids fishing too on the opposite side of the river.
It was such a fine day, you can see the reflection of the skies on the water.
Such a beautiful day for a walk.
This is my entry for the #aseanhive
#letsgoforawalk community challenge.
Thank you for reading.
Hmm you really enjoyed your walk. When we were still there I have not visited that area that far.
Yes, I did. It was a happy happy walk! Full of surprises. Ya, because that time you have to cross the river just to get to the other side plus it's really far and still In its jungle state.😍
Going into a hike on a perfect sunny day is a perfect thing to do! Also, a lot of interesting things happened during your hike. I didn’t expect that there are some people who are still doing laundry at rivers, that sounds a bit fun, especially when you’re doing laundry together with your neighbors and having conversations.
Yes, in the countryside you will still see women washing clothes in the river. For them it's a blessing having abundant water and they enjoy what their doing. I guess it's just a matter of preference. A perfect way to have a family and friends/neighbors bonding as well. For some few Others, those who are really living in poverty who can't afford to buy washing machines and don't have their own waterline as well, they have no choice but to do laundry in the river even if it's really hard work.
But, hey that's how we survive.
I am just so grateful that I am not in their shoes. These women are also from our local tribes. Some still live like as their forefathers have but for some they have adapted and have evolved, even having their kids educated and go to school, graduate in college.
Ohh I see…
This is exactly the walk that I've been longing for!
I was truly lucky It was a beautiful day, guess you really attract what you are feeling. You become what you think about. I was happy so the universe gave me more happiness, more than I could ever imagine. Imagine it was one joy to another after another.... There were even butterflies circling me while I was walking, but I was not able to take a photo of them for they were difficult subjects to take photos and even videos with.
