Hello lovelies, I'm just looking at the clock and am amazed that it's still so early in the day, even though it feels like I've been working for 20 hours. LOOL But it wasn't that much - it just feels like it.
I hope you've had a good few days and are full of energy for things you enjoy. Just doing daft stuff increases stress levels - or how do you see it? The best thing about my work is that I can see what I've achieved at the end.
There are some before and after pictures in today's garden journal as I've cleared the first walkway to the chicken coop, weeded the third greenhouse and patched up the other greenhouse. The front element was already coming towards me, so it's now completely gone - I'll rebuild it. I came across plants in the other greenhouse that made me think dinosaurs might come out of there. They looked like fossilised plants from a long-forgotten world.

Here I had to deal with the stubborn thistles, which I would even let grow at the edge, but definitely not in the centre of the greenhouse and at the front entrance. The thistle itself can actually be very useful and garden-friendly in a more favourable location - let's see if it likes to look for another place.

I fitted a new tarpaulin to the other greenhouse. I still had the tarpaulin at home and it was almost forgotten. But the real kicker is yet to come: I've got some polystyrene for a bag of cat food that I can pick up to build the new front - more on that in my next post on garden remodelling.

I'm already happy that I was able to attach the tarpaulin properly, although one side proved to be much more difficult. The screws were so loose that I wouldn't have been able to get them out without force - and I could have ruined everything. So I opted for an upper version, which would later be secured with a wooden beam once the front was built. Unfortunately, I couldn't pull the tarpaulin behind it because some of the screws wouldn't come loose. On the other hand, it worked wonderfully. But who knows if everything will always go smoothly? And would it awaken the inventive spirit if everything always worked perfectly? I don't think so. LOOL

Apart from that, I've been working on a raised bed and have managed to tear out at least a quarter of it. I tell you, the vegetables at home finally want to take their place! That's why I'm going full throttle, because the hive event in Graz is still to come and will last a few days. I wanted to at least get the pre-grown cuttings in by then. Will that work? We'll see! But I'm certainly motivated.
But today is the last day, because the rain came suddenly and made further work impossible. But the repaired greenhouse did a good job: It was tested directly with rain - it is tight and well tensioned. Successful work, I would say!

Garten-Journal – Der Garten der Urzeitgewächse

Hallo ihr Lieben, ich schaue gerade auf die Uhr und bin verwundert, dass es noch so früh am Tag ist, obwohl ich gefühlt schon 20 Stunden am Ackern war. LOOL Aber so viel war es gar nicht – es fühlt sich nur so an.
Ich hoffe, ihr hattet angenehme Tage und startet voller Energie in Dinge, die euch Freude bereiten. Nur doofes Zeug zu machen steigert den Stresspegel – oder wie seht ihr das? Das Beste an meiner Arbeit ist, dass ich am Ende sehe, was ich geschafft habe.

Im heutigen Verlauf meines Garten-Journals gibt es einige Vorher-Nachher-Bilder, denn ich habe den ersten Gang zum Hühnerstall freigeschaufelt, das dritte Gewächshaus entkrautet und das andere Gewächshaus geflickt. Das vordere Element kam mir schon entgegen, also ist es jetzt ganz weg – ich werde es neu bauen. Beim anderen Gewächshaus kamen mir Pflanzen entgegen, bei denen ich dachte, dass da auch noch Dinosaurier herauskommen könnten. Sie sahen aus wie versteinerte Pflanzen aus einer längst vergessenen Welt.
Hier hatte ich es mit den hartnäckigen Disteln zu tun, die ich am Rand sogar wachsen lassen würde, aber mitten im Gewächshaus und vorne am Eingang definitiv nicht. Die Distel an sich kann an einem vorteilhafteren Ort sogar sehr nützlich und gartenfreundlich sein – mal sehen, ob sie sich einen anderen Platz suchen mag.

Am anderen Gewächshaus habe ich eine neue Plane angebracht. Die Plane hatte ich noch zu Hause und sie war schon fast vergessen. Aber der eigentliche Knaller kommt erst noch: Ich habe noch Styropor für eine Tüte Katzenfutter, das ich abholen kann, um die neue Fassade zu bauen - mehr dazu in meinem nächsten Beitrag über die Umgestaltung des Gartens.----

Ich bin schon glücklich, dass ich die Plane ordentlich befestigen konnte, obwohl sich eine Seite deutlich schwieriger erwies. Die Schrauben waren so durch, dass ich sie nicht ohne Gewalt herausbekommen hätte – und damit hätte ich alles kaputt machen können. Also entschied ich mich für eine obere Variante, die später mit einem Holzbalken gesichert wird, sobald die Front gebaut ist. Leider konnte ich die Plane nicht dahinter ziehen, weil sich einige Schrauben nicht lösen ließen. Auf der anderen Seite hat es wunderbar geklappt. Aber wer weiß schon, ob immer alles glatt läuft? Und würde es den Erfindergeist wecken, wenn alles immer perfekt funktioniert? Ich denke nicht. LOOL

Abgesehen davon habe ich mich noch an ein Hochbeet gemacht und zumindest ein Viertel davon herausreißen können. Ich sage euch, das Gemüse zu Hause will endlich seinen Platz einnehmen! Deshalb gebe ich Vollgas, denn das Hive-Event in Graz steht noch an und geht einige Tage. Bis dahin wollte ich wenigstens die vorgezogenen Stecklinge einsetzen. Ob das klappt? Das werden wir sehen! Aber motiviert bin ich auf jeden Fall.

Für heute ist allerdings Schluss, denn der Regen kam plötzlich und machte weitere Arbeiten unmöglich. Dafür hat das reparierte Gewächshaus gute Dienste geleistet: Es wurde direkt mit Regen getestet – es ist dicht und gut gespannt. Erfolgreiche Arbeit, würde ich sagen!
