Welcome once again to my blog, where today I'm going to talk to you about Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition. The definitive edition of Age of Empires 3, a game that came out, as many of you will remember, in 2005, a year that, by the way, was loaded with great games, like Residential 4 and others. And of course, this Exodus: Empires 3, which is now back, adapting to the current times, adapting to new computers with revamped graphics and new game modes. Next, I'm going to show you everything with gameplay and tell you a little bit about what I thought of Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition, in a first hands-on experience I had for a few hours. So, let's get started.

The gameplay

In terms of gameplay, Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition remains the great strategy title I remembered, with its different civilizations known as metropolises, which were one of the new features that arrived back in 2005. It also includes a wealth of content to enjoy hundreds of hours of gameplay. In fact, this Definitive Edition includes content from all the expansions released for this game at the time. Among the new features, which is most interesting for you, one of the most important is the historical battles, which have allowed me, as their name suggests, to recreate battles that have been recorded in real history books.

For example, in this test, I was able to try out the capture of Algiers and the subsequent campaign in Algiers, in which I had to face the army of King Charles I of Spain to defend my newly conquered city and eliminate The enemy troops from the rest of the map in a game that I found quite fun, with interesting objectives that gave me a good taste of what these historical battles can be like. I truly hope they continue at this level in the final version of this edition.

Another addition I was able to find were the Art of War missions, which this time served as a kind of advanced tutorial in which I had to complete various challenges, thanks to which I was able to master all kinds of mechanics while fighting to earn the typical gold, silver, or bronze medals. You can expect everything from simple battles to learn how to collect resources to more advanced challenges organizing defenses and other situations that we will later experience in different battles in Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition. As for civilizations, all 14 that were present in both the original game and the expansions will be available, as well as two new guest-star civilizations: the Swedes and the Incas, who will become part of the range of civilizations that will be available in the final version of the game for the first time ever.

I've also found changes to some mechanics and adjustments to units and civilizations to balance the game and improve it both offline and in multiplayer. However, to talk about this, I'll wait for the final analysis regarding the multiplayer aspect of this installment. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test it in-depth since it was difficult for me to find a match, which is completely normal since it's a fairly limited test for a small number of players. However, I can tell you that it will have a cross-network function, meaning that owners of the title on Steam and the Xbox store will be able to play with each other without any problems.

On a technical level, I have once again found a great remastering and improved textures and effects job that leaves me as satisfied as I was at the time of the aforementioned Country 2 Definitive Edition, adapting each and every aspect to today's demands. Visually, with 4K graphics and a polished and improved interface, this edition looks better than ever and almost resembles, at times, a title released in recent years. In fact, at times, I forgot that I was watching a remastering of a game as old as this, so to speak, in Country 3. The other great news I have found is on the sound level, since each and every piece of music has been completely remastered to offer a clearer, higher-quality sound experience than ever before.

Conclusion of the 3 hours I've already played

I have to tell you that I'm quite satisfied with my first experience with Hecho Campestres Definitive Edition. It once again delivered great strategic moments, allowing me to enjoy all the content of the original and its expansions, including new game modes and even two extra civilizations to further increase its depth and the hours we can spend in front of the screen. With this new version of a strategy classic, on a technical level, I have to say that the improvement is clear, with 4K graphics, 3D materials that have been reworked to adapt them to the current times, improvements to the interface, and a remastered soundtrack, allowing me to enjoy a unique installment better than ever. Both those who played the game 15 years ago and new strategy fans will love it.
