New Loot Chests

Gee day guys,

Welcome to my blog for another entry into the splinterlands social media challenge. Today a questions popped up in head and this was how I answered it. The thing is I know what I am writing about, ie, whether it’s a social media challenge or engagement challenge I know but then I still state the obvious in the introduction of there challenges that I write.

For me it’s nothing special but stating which type of challenge I am writing definitely makes things easier on my part so it’s a practiced I think will be with me for the time being.

In today’s post I’d be talking about loot chests. Yes, you heard me right; loot chests. As far as I can remember loot chests were a thing ever since spl was introduced and it was one of the things that kept people playing the game for hours and hours non stop. The thing about loot chests back in the day was you could get anything for these chests which were worth a good chunk of loot.

I remember how I saw people posts about the sps pull and all that in some of the discord channels that I belong in. Fast forward to thing year(2024) the team decided to take down loot chests and then introduce glint shop. Even after the glint shop they realised that we the players were still calling for loot chests to be a thing again and they listened. Before I talk about what these new chests contain let me tell you what I think about the loot chests of back in the day and now it impacted the game.

Splinterlands has been around for sometime now. It’s been there for 6 years and in those 6 years they’ve been able to achieve something really great for a crypto gaming project. Most crypto games which came out with it are either bankrupt or are no more in existence.

But spl went through its tough times and as a result they had to scrap most things out of the game. For me, I’ve always said that scrapping loot chests has always been a bad decision and I still stand by that.

Even though the team has been able to bring back loot chests they are not like before. In the past one earned loot chests similar to the way people earn glints now. The more you played the more chests you made and the higher your league determined what loot you’ll get in the chest. With the loot back in the day it was an exciting thing to open chests. I remember back when I stared playing I could play spl and buy energy the whole day so I could get more chests.

Now loot chests are back but with a different feel to it. The loot chests of the past are not what they are today as you can no longer earn sps from these chests. Today you can earn loot chests by advancing in your league that you are. What does this mean, it means that let’s say you are in gold III at the moment but just advanced to gold II, you’ll earn loot chests for that advance. You’ll only earn loot chests each time you advance for a season and that’s it.

When you fall back and advance again in the same season you don’t earn loot chests for advancing back to a league you already did before falling out.

So this is the little I have to say today about the new loot chests feature. Hopefully in the near future we will see the addition of sps loot in these loot chests.
