Greetings to all Splinterlands players and gaming community! I had a nice surprise today when claiming my reward chests. Jackpot cards arrived in the Frontier format. The cards can be obtained when completing daily missions and after winning five games. There is a chance of a jackpot card to be included in the rewards along with the pack and raffle entry. I was lucky to get one when I claimed today's reward.

Four Jackpot Cards

There are four jackpot cards for each of the elements and rarities: Common Water, Rare Death, Epic Life and Legendary Fire. The card I got was the Epic Life card, White Chickadee.

My card is level one. It's a three mana, miniscule life and speed stats. It has no attack and no shield. It has flying skills and can be used in Earthquake games. At maximum level, it's stats will improve and a tank heal skill will be added.

From a quick glance, I can say that the White Chickadee is my favorite among the jackpot cards. Not because it's the one I got but because I can fit it in the the team I'm using. I'm not so sure if there's room for the other cards in my existing teams. Maybe I have not thought of it yet.

Eris Bimblenok

The Fire unit comes at a high mana. It has a lot of magic attack and a support skill, Inspire. It adds +1 melee attack to all allied units. This is probably my second favorite in the new cards because of the support to melee units like Frankarsgard and Chaos Furybringer.

Aimee Whisperwind

My third favorite card. It has three melee attack and opportunity skill. It also has a lot of mana that may make it unusable in low mana games. It will be hard to fully max out because it's a common card and need sixty BCX to reach its full potential. It's third in my ranking because it will not be played that much in the magic team of water element. Maybe it will be useful when magic units are disallowed and only water element is available. It's use is very limited at the current meta.
Necrulencian Thief

My fourth favorite because I don't know if I can find a spot for this card in my current death team. It has three melee attack and has sneak and poison skills. It looks good on offense but hard to level up and reach maximum levels.

Conclusion
The jackpot cards look good but they suffer the same disadvantages. They are not easy to level up and maximize. All other cards in the Frontier have reached high levels by now if not maximum level. The new cards come at low levels and held back by their scarcity. It's supposed to make it more valuable but in this case, it's a disadvantage. Further, the jackpot cards are not that strong or do not change the meta that much. Their value comes from scarcity and collection value but their use in battle is not that meta changing. For example, the legendary card only has one skill inspite of it being legendary while the Necrulencian Thief has two skills and same number of attack stats. Maybe it's just me but I think there's more room for improvement on the jackpot cards. Given their scarcity, more skills or more stats to will make their use in the game better and meta changing.
