Summertime Showdown: Gbemisola vs. Moses08 – Two Unique Takes, One Classic Song
Welcome guys. I'm back again with another review, and yes, just before we dive into today's work, need I remind you that it's Week 37 on the Vibes Week Music Competition—and you know what that means—good music!?
Well, I came across a cover of Summertime by Gbemisola, and trust me when I say it sounds so good.
I’m somewhat starting to like this song—not like I knew it before now anyways 😜—but then, the way the artist carries the song with her voice makes it lovable. Her cover was so mature, with a nicely controlled voice. I love the spacing. She wasn’t trying to rush the lyrics or overdo it.
Songs like this can get you tempted into trying to implement all your musical skills—runs, riffs—into one short time frame, making it lose its connection with us, the audience. I’m glad she noticed this and took her time to gently get a message across—letting us feel each line and every word. Beautiful entry there.
I thought she was the only one who did such an amazing cover of this song. But guess what? There were two artists who perfectly did a cover of Summertime.
The second artist is @Moses08.
He had us baffled and amazed. He was more stylish with his voice. I felt some richness in there. His style was centred on riffs and nice falsetto notes that made us go “Wow!” Kudos to you, Moses!
Well, there we have it—two different artists, two different styles, each bringing their best to the table. This song is definitely being added to my playlist thanks to these amazing artists.
Let’s prepare to support the people we’re rooting for. It’s not enough to say you support an artist without actively participating in the activities that show you actually support that artist.
