Hello Everyone, Namaste 🙏☺️

How are you doing? Food is the necessity for our survival. Infact in general we all live for food and survival. We had been farming and growing food for centuries now. The type and variety of food varies from area to area. There are certain food items that are only exclusive to a certain area. As such, the demand of these premium food products are high. We had evolved from hunters and gatherers to basically farming and making our own food. I myself belong to family of farmers. We also have home garden for growing fruits and vegetables. However we also have larger area under cultivation for cash crops such as Mustard, Gram, Millets etc which we grow for commercial purpose only.

In India, especially in villages having small home kitchen gardens are very common and perticular things where people generally grow tomato, cabbage, potato, Boutleguard etc such other food items. But in cities since there is already scarcity of place, it's hard to harvest food for oneself. However people nowadays adopting terrace garden for hobby and also organic products. Organic farming is becoming very popular nowadays and it is being practiced on small scale. As people still go with traditional farming practices in order to meet requirements of such a large population of my country.

As we can't produce every food items on our own, we had to source our daily food needs from the market. Nowadays there is also a option to source food items directly fresh from farms, however it becomes a bit costly and requires monthly subscription. There are many new startups providing such services. This is really good and will also help the local farmers as they can reach to wider user base. People here buy stuff form local vendors. We also have dedicated big markets for fruits and vegetables where farmers directly sell fresh items on daily basis. The supply and demand of some food items depend on monsoon here. As many times due to extreme rains or no rains the crops get spoiled and then the prices of basic every vegetables such as Tomotao and Onions reach sky high. Since India is also a big exporter of vegetable crops, it sometimes becomes very difficult to manage internal and external demand. During these tough times, when there is shortage of basic food items we tend to realise the importance of food crops.

Farming as a profession is a noble thing and it fulfills the hunger of the ours. In country like India where Agriculture forms a great part of economy and also employes majority of the Indian population, the farmers are credited very less for their services. Producing food this great population of the country and also catering to the demands for foreign exports, the farmers are doing a great service. We should also develope the habit of practicing home farmers. We can start as little with growing few plants. Eating products harvested at home gives amazing feeling. This process somewhere also connect with nature and mother earth. Let's praise all the farmers who are producing food for us and then the earth for providing us with all the resources to grow food.
