You see, Kira is a 28-year-old computer scientist. But she is a rather unique computer scientist, I would say. Instead of working in an office surrounded by computers, she works in a music studio surrounded by instruments. Her job in the studio is to maintain the computer that is used to edit and mix the songs. The truth is that she never thought of working in a place like this. She thinks she would work locked up in an office, but look at her here surrounded by instruments, that's why it's unique because she didn't imagine it.
She is very much liked at work because she has saved the recording team from many problems. For example, one day when the studio had an important contract with an equally important client, the main computer broke down. There was no time to buy another one and then install the necessary programs. But fortunately Kira was already working with them and in the blink of an eye she fixed the system. The result was that they were able to record the program without problems. As a reward, they gave her a salary increase and promoted her to head of IT. Well, she addresses herself, she is her own boss. XD. This is because she is the only IT person in the studio so she has no one to boss around, it's funny.
And that is just one of the many anecdotes she has at the place. She has often become the life of the party. She started working as an ordinary employee and now it is as if she were part of a family with her colleagues in editing and recording. But Kira's story is not about her past but about something that has recently happened to her. This is again something very unusual, something unique I would say. It turns out that during a 15-minute break she had, she relaxed on a large sofa in the middle of the break room. She started looking at the ceiling and realized something that she had never thought of before.
She realized that during her time working as an IT professional at the studio, she had never intended to play an instrument. The only keyboard she had ever played during this time had been the one on her computer. There were many pianos in the studio, but she had not stopped to play them for fear of breaking them or being made fun of for not knowing how to play. But they say that curiosity breaks down barriers, and that is exactly what happened. She decided that she wanted to learn to play. That is why she asked her boss for permission to be able to play one when she finished work. He laughed and told her that she did not have to ask for permission, that she could play them as if they were hers. She laughed too, and the boss was still grateful that she asked for permission, that showed what a good person she was, she was respectful and asked for permission for everything. A great example for all of us, no doubt.
Well, right after finishing work, at about 5 in the afternoon, she stood in front of one of the pianos that were in the place. She immediately realized that it wouldn't be that easy to learn, she might be very good with the computer keyboard but the piano keyboard is another story. But well, since she had asked permission and was already here, why waste the opportunity? She started to play, as you might imagine it was more than just noises instead of music, since she didn't know how to play a piano at all.
Everyone working in the studio heard someone playing the piano, but what caught their attention was how badly she was playing it. They found it funny because they saw that it was Kira who was playing it. After a while of watching her try to play, several of them approached her. They told her the correct way to put her hands and how to interpret and read the music book. Of course, she wasn't going to learn from one day to the next, but at least it was something to learn. The next day, at exactly the same time, several people were waiting for her in the same place to help her continue learning. She was surprised by the interest they showed. But that is a result of when you do things right, others will want to pay you back in the same positive way.
On the third day, her boss called her to give her a statement. She was a little scared because she thought that maybe he had gotten angry because she was practicing every day and maybe that was distracting the others. But none of that happened. Her boss called her for something she never thought of. He told her that he was going to reduce her work hours so that she could practice with some of the team members in the afternoons. She didn't know how to thank him, she was so happy. Now she could practice every day after noon and some of the team members would be in charge of teaching her. Nobody knows but life is crazy, who knows one day she might become a famous pianist, history will tell.
