The Story of Grandfather Hassan and the White Handkerchief

In a small alley in Cairo there was an old man named Grandfather Hassan He used to sit every morning on a wooden bench in front of the spice shop watching people coming and going always smiling He was known for his wisdom and big heart.

One day as usual he saw a little boy named Yassin who was working as a boy in the bakery in the middle of the alley Yassin was running quickly holding two loaves of bread in his hand and his face was full of the worries of the world Suddenly a loaf fell from his hand and one of the other boys snatched it and ran Yassin stood in his place hesitating not knowing what to do and tears filled his eyes.

Grandfather Hassan noticed the situation got up calmly entered the shop bought a bag of fresh beans and returned to Yassin and extended the bag to him while saying with a smile:

Here my son everything is fine and everything that goes is replaced by something else.

Yassin looked at Grandpa Hassan his face full of astonishment but he took the bag and thanked him and ran to the oven to continue his work Grandpa Hassan sat back down smiling not expecting any thanks or reward because he knew that goodness comes back one way or another.

A few days later something strange happened Yassin returned to Grandpa Hassan but this time he was holding a clean white handkerchief and said to him enthusiastically.

Grandpa Hassan mom told me to give it to you it was made by her hand to say thank you for what you did for me.

Grandpa Hassan took the handkerchief looked at Yassin with love and said:

My son goodness is circulating and you opened its door today

From that day on the whole neighborhood started talking about Grandpa Hassan and his kind heart and everyone started helping the other without expecting anything in return.
