If I read this correctly, then people who use #freecompliments in their leoshorts videos do not count as a thread from them, but from the uploading leoshort-account.
How does this work, when technically the leoshort account create the post and not the actual thread?

That's interesting - can you give me an example of this? The shorts I've seen posted on Threads have been directly from individuals. Maybe the ones in the "Shorts" section aren't the same ones (?).

Exactly, the shorts we see on threads is from individuals, but if you then look at the threads table in the post, there are many leoshorts accounts.
Based on that alone (I can't be sure), I think leoshorts with the #freecompliments tag is not awarded to the user who upload it, but rather to the uploading account. I hope it makes sense.
