HivePulse.app - New Goals functionality for focused and consistent activity on the Hive blockchain

I've been working to a new functionality on the HivePulse.app and after few iterations I am ready to release it: Goals. Through Goals you can define tangible daily activities to perform on the Hive blockchain that should help to be focused, consistent and simply to keep the eye on the ball. For sure it helps me and I hope that the community that started using this stats and insights app will find it useful as well. I am a goals driven person or some would say "a man with a plan", thus the new feature brings the extra motivation to be active in this ecosystem and also to get the acknowledgement for that. This missing piece could bring more engagement to the ecosystem and let's each of us even up our game if we want to, have the energy and the time for it. So let's see together what the new Goals functionality on the Hive Pulse app brings.

Goals section

The Goals section is the one where we can define for the browsed account the milestones that we want to achieve. At the moment these targets are defined per day and are automatically extrapolated to weekly, monthly and yearly metrics. And there are few goals that can be set at this stage and the app will not only store them, but it is able to track in real time. Here are the Goals (parameters) that one can set.

  • Articles - set a goal of how many articles you want to write per day
  • Comments - set the level of engagement through comments that you'll pass in a day
  • Upvotes - set the number of upvotes you want to spread through curation
  • Rewards (HP) - set a goal of how much HP you target to get back from the engagement and daily curation

Graphs section

The Graphs section for the set Goals is the one that gives us a visual presentation of our progress. You can see how you are finding yourself compared to the targeted milestones through a daily snapshot, but also weekly, monthly, yearly or overall. The Graphs are the one that reflect your affinity to the expressed goals and the hiccups encountered along the way. By having a visual presentation one can use that to adjust any of the goals.

Achievements section

The Achievements section is a 30 day snapshot to see if the Goals were achieved day by day. This view comes in addition to the graphs to offer a different perspective, which for some of us (or those accustomed with Excel or table views) might come more natural. Achieved or not, Goals can be afterwards redefined and it will show the results on all the Hive activity.

These are all the inner functionalities for the Goals page: define your goals, see how they evolve in time and track them day by day. For me the Goals bring more motivation and focus, for you it might be the same or more. But with it, we can now set some targets and try to reach them, regardless on how and where life pulls us. If set, in the corner of our mind, we will have some motivation to do an extra effort and try to achieve our goals day after day. Currently the goals refer to articles, comments, upvotes and rewards, but if you can think of additional items that can be added, I welcome any feedback on this. The Hive ecosystem might be complex even for new beginners, so having such goals might steer a newbie on the right path and the activities that he can do on the blockchain.

I like the idea of setting daily goals because consistency is one of the biggest challenges for many Hive users, including myself. Having graphs and achievement tracking makes it much easier to see progress and stay motivated over time.

I appreciate your hardwork.

unfortunately, I cant open the site right now...

Yeah, sorry for that, found a bug that only occurs in Production mode and now I am fixing it. Just allow me few minutes and will let you know when done.

All should be good now:
✓ Creating an optimized production build
✓ Compiled successfully
✓ Linting and checking validity of types
✓ Collecting page data
✓ Generating static pages (4/4)
✓ Collecting build traces
✓ Finalizing page optimization

When you first reload the page it could take a bit while caching, but afterwards things should move smoother. Thanks!

This site took a bit to load on my end (probably local isp issue 😁). But once it loaded, BAMM.. this dashboard is more fun to use than a standard explorar! The analysis charts of the goal section is absolutely OP.

My personal target is to publish exactly 2 posts per week then I played around with numbers and set my daily goal to 0.2857142857142857 per day. Bwaha.. weekly goal instantly changed to 2. Now I just need to figure out how to write 0.2857... of a post today without leaving it half finished XD
oh i forgot, Thank you soo much to building sch as awesome tool. You r a legend!

Yeah, initially it does an aggregation from the Hive blockchain since you created your account, thus it harvests through a bit of data.
About the weekly posts you are right and yeah, math will make it go to fractions for daily goals. I got another feedback on this and will allow to set also weekly goals and other fields will be calculated based on user input.

Ah, makes sense now! pulling all that blockchain data from day one is definitely gonna take a min.
And that's dope news abt the weekly goals. Direct input for that would be so much cleaner. Can't wait for the update, and thanks for the vote behiver <3

I was wondering if there is a frontend of the Blockchain like the amount of servers online that feed the hive Blockchain. Have we been increasing or decreasing, is this a cyclical event or is not. I'm taking about the amount of nodes on the Blockchain.

That's the list of witnesses that run the Hive blockchain nodes and commit transactions. That is not hard to be obtain, but the infrastructure each uses is not transparent for anyone as it is private to each one: VPS, cloud services, own computer, own hosting, containers or however they chose to run a witness node app and hive blockchain database.

Right, but there are still charts of available nodes on a network. I have seen it on many other blockchains, but I haven't seen a chart for this on Hive. I have look on HiveHub and HiveExplorer and they list different amount of witnesses. HH show 500, and HE 200. But not a chart to see how much have they been increased online or have went offline in the past 5 years.
