When I was a child, this place was my playground, my classroom and my safe place. This outdoor fishpond and nearby river where I learned how to swim, even when fear mixed with excitement. It was also where we washed clothes together, laughing while the water splashed around us. Most importantly, this was where I had friendships with my childhood genuine friendships formed. My childhood was truly happy because of this place.

Years passed, and life became busier. But recently, I found myself coming back, this time bringing my own child and my two nieces. I wanted them to experience the same joy I once felt. We went swimming and splashing in the river despite the cold temperature. Honestly, the water in Sitio Pinetree is extremely cold, it shocks your feet the moment you step in. But once you get used to it, the cold turns into laughter and fun begins.

Sitio Pinetree, the place where I was born, has a natural charm that never fades. The river is surrounded by tall trees that provide shade and calmness. Everything around is so green, plants, wild grasses, and small flowers growing freely. It feels like nature is gently hugging you. If you want to refresh your mind and escape stress, this place is perfect for hanging out, relaxing and simply enjoying the moment. The only challenge is the cold water, which not everyone can handle.

One of our missions that day was to collect shells from the river. We wanted to save them so we could cook something warm especially during rainy days. There's something special about sipping hot soup when the weather is cold. I was especially happy watching my child try to collect shells for the first time. She was excited, curious and proud of herself. What made it even more meaningful was knowing that we would cook what we gathered together, right after.

These shells are called "agihis" in our place. They are simple but delicious and they are perfect for kids. There's no fancy preparation just clean them, cook them and enjoy..that day turned into an unexpected picnic. We cooked, shared food, and talked while enjoying the cold breeze and peaceful surroundings.

That experience reminded me that happiness doesn't need to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes, it's found in cold river water, green surroundings, freshly gathered food and family moments. This outdoor fishpond and river in Sitio Pinetree are more than just a place for me, they are part of my story. I'm grateful that I can now share these memories and experiences with the next generation.
