Social media remains a vital propagator of the crypto space and Web3, and its digital assets, which are the future of the internet, block chain, and tokens, are at a convergence. Thus, the internet continues to be flooded with innovations that are block chain-compliant and decentralized, hoping to improve the structures and layers of Web2 and Web1, respectively.
Coins and tokens are continually launched on different chains and platforms, and social media remains the tool to market and spread the news to prospective investors. Different spaces have been created for coins and tokens to thrive, such that users can easily navigate through the tasks therein.
Recently, I have had a great passion for hunting for airdrops, and I have engaged with different chains and spaces. Most importantly is the #galxe platform, which provides spaces for coins and tokens to reach prospective users. The links are readily available in these spaces, and I have had to link to and interact with many social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, Discord, Telegram, Reddit, Medium, etc. There is almost an endless link to social media.
This is where finance is incorporated into social media so that, beyond having fun, you, as the user, can also make some money through the digitalized currency. I cannot count the number of channels and announcement groups on my telegram, nor can I count the number of likes and reposts I have done on Twitter, including the following of projects. All these tasks are marketing strategies to increase publicity and awareness.
Is there any project that can thrive without social media? Not at this age, I guess. The world has gone beyond physical or word-of-mouth marketing. We can sit in the comfort of our homes and get information about whatever project we desire. And these projects are often designed aesthetically to attract users or investors so that the pool of liquidity can increase and probably give the project credence and relevance.
I remember having to contract a friend of mine to design a logo for my proposed farm some years ago. It was an important project for me, and rather than learn the design myself, I relied on a graphic designer who kept editing the logo until I was satisfied aesthetically. Canva is one great platform to easily learn graphic design at little or no cost. Crypto users have graduated from the past to the future.
As much as we want to talk about Web3 and digital assets, social media cannot be sidelined, and it is, in fact, the forerunner of all marketing strategies.

you are right, social media is a great way to promote online businesses. Likewise graphic design does a great work in advertising one's business.
Social media is also the place where most of the online users converge. It definitely has evolved and become multi-purposeful, a great tool to create awareness and market a product or service. Having DeFi incorporated into it puts everything in a whole different perspective, in a very good way for a lot of people :)
