A Summer Holiday

They swore they'd make the most of every summer weekend—but now it was mid-August, and the to-do list was still untouched.

That was the ugly reality that faced Jack and his friends as they vacated for the summer break. Jack being the ring leader had arranged series of places and activities they'll engage in once the summer holidays kick in.

First , they planned to visit the Capitol Bay and spend a fortnight there. They had dreamt of swimming in the fresh waters and then eating the best seafoods available. But that dream was cut short. Capitol Bay witnessed some ugly incident involving the locals and their municipal government.

The locals felt their government was not doing enough for them and so they staged a protest, blocking the entry and exit points of the Bay. The protest turned violent when the municipal council responded heavily with the Police and in the melee lives were lost. The government lost huge revenues for two days and the Bay was closed till further notice. This is mid-August and no one is saying anything meaningful towards it's reopening.

Jack had to look at other holiday resorts around but they are all expensive. Next, they thought about fishing but Sam detests the idea as he has phobia for the sea.

The climate change also worked against their plans as one of the places on their to-do list is in the south which was experiencing torrential rains - a no go area for campers.

Owing to all these, and seeing their to-do list remaining untouched they decided to spend the remaining time at Jack's church summer retreat for the youth.
