Social Media Challenge - Tinkering My Usual Lineup Into Another Variant

Prelude
Good day to all, hope that you are doing well and battling often in Splinterlands. It is time again for another battle sharing on a match encounter that happened over the span of this week. There is a lineup that I always love to use with double martyr.

While an almost similar lineup that I usually use, I did a tweak in this match in order to adapt to a ruleset which leaves me to not be able to use a number of the cards that I usually use in my favourite double martyr lineup. This is actually something really important because it is not like every match will feature the same ruleset and knowing how to tweak it to make it work and win matches is what all players need to learn.

So get's right on to the battle sharing where a heavy metal ruleset made me rethink what I should include in my lineup.

Ruleset: Heavy Metal, Up to Elven, Stampede
Mana Limit: 60

Selection Analysis
We do have 4 splinters available for selection - Water, Earth, Life and Death. For the 3 ruleset, Heavy Metal shaves off the use of any cards that do not default armour in their stats. And both me and my opponent used Water Splinter for this match. For me I have a bigger collection for water so choosing Water is a good option for me.

In my selection, instead of using Commander Slade to put up as a tank, I put up Ulundin Overseer to hold the first position although it didn't had any attack. The reason was that I want to have Coastal Sentry to hide behind it and strike my opponent with some good value while having some protection. I put up River Hellondale as well with aim to revive Ulundin Overseer and sustain even longer. Following them will be Moxian Rebel to give weapon training to the next card, Noa The Just. This card is there to reduce the armour on my opponent lineup and allow my cards to strike them hard. The lineup was ended with Swamp Spitter which is there to repair any broken armour from all the massive attacks. A very different kind of lineup from what I usually play but key here is to let Coastal Sentry to do her magic and smash hard.

Now onto what my opponent with Possibilus as summoner, which is really good with the ruleset due to the trample. Commander Slade was used as tank which is a natural good choice. Because of reach coming from Possibilus, also looked be doing the same as what I did to have more young adults helping me. The next card is something that I do not have, Henchling Enforcer which is capable of halving attacks and weakening damages coming their way. Mad Ogre Anarchist and Rune Crafter takes up the final 2 spots in the lineup which aims to be alternate attacking source.

A very strong lineup I will be facing from my opponent with a summoner that is tailored for the ruleset. With my usual way of fielding cards being tweaked to fit the ruleset, how did I manage to overcome my opponent? All will be covered in the next segment.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Thankfully, there is no magic attackers on my opponent side which meant that when Ulundin Overseer falls and revived, he can sustain longer. Match start with some strikes on cards on both ends but generally no cards were taken out. Ulundin seem to take more of the punishment as compared to Slade because of no dodge.

Round 2 - Things got heated up as both tanks fell one after another with Ulundin really soaking up loads of damage and falling even after being revived. Things looks a little worrying as my cards seemed to be more hurt than my opponent's.

Round 3 - Thankfully my Coastal Sentry struck first and killed my opponent's one before it killed mine. Mad Ogre Anarchist managed to take out my Moxian Rebel as well in this round. We are getting leaner on both sides, who will prevail?

Round 4 - Coast Sentry was on fire and started clearing everything out on my opponent's side. My Swamp Spitter kept the lineup strong with continuous repairing of the armour as we move towards the last few rounds.

Round 5-6, It was a Coastal Sentry display show where it cleared one card per round and with all cards on my opponent's side cleared, we secured the victory and my tweaked lineup manage to overcome the odds and take home a win.

Battle Summary
While it did look like going to be a daunting task especially with Possibilus on my opponent's end which is so well suited for the ruleset. Opponent even had Henchling Enforcer which will half my attacks, thankfully before it can even land on me, Coastal Sentry just quickly cleared it off. A heart racing match for me especially trying to use cards in a different manner than usual and planting Noa The Just deep in the lineup to shave off armour from my opponent. Swamp Spitter and Coastal Sentry were the 2 main stars of the match that allow continued big strikes with armour renewal to keep the "engine" going and bring home the victory.

Wrap Up
Adaptation to lineup is very important as there are times when key components will no longer be available due to some restrictions from the rulesets. By effectively changing out components and tweaking them a little, one will still be able to get a good win. Hope you like my sharing today.
