Social Media Challenge - Narrowly Winning A Battle With A Friend

Prelude
Good day to all, hope that you are doing well and battling often in Splinterlands. It is time again for another battle sharing on a match encounter that happened over the span of this week. Today I will be showcasing a match that I had with a friend of mine whom incidentally is the owner of SBT.

I think battling a friend is something interesting as we will be able to look at it together and ask ourselves, how we can do better and what are the cards that we could have put up to turn the result in our favour. And it is match like these that is actually fun because you know the person behind that account. So get's right in to the battle.

Selection Analysis
We have 5 splinters available for selection - Water, earth, life, death and dragon. While in normal days I would have either gone for water or earth due to Oshannus or Quora, something inside me made me wanna try something else which led me to putting up a Life Splinter lineup which I thought I will be able to pull off.

So here is my selection of the lineup. To have a stronger magic lineup for Life Splinter, my big hitter is actually Captain Katie but she is a Gladius card and hence I have to call upon Franz Ruffmane to be able to put 1 Gladius card in a normal rank battle lineup. To balance out the thin 33 mana that is available, I place Dax Paragon at the front with efforts focus on leaving enough mana for other cards at the back. Dax is a cheap 2 mana magic attacker that has a decent amount of health. Following which is Venari Spellsmith which aims at doing dispel on buff that opponent might have so that advantage on their end will be reduced. Next up is my damage dealer, Captain Katie. With her blood lust and ability to snipe, she will be the key damage output from my side. The next 2 cards are part of my usual backline trio, but due to mana constraint, I can only be able to sustain 2 of them which will sturdy the backline. Spirit Hoarder to heal up Iziar whom is there to soak up as much magic attack as she can with the void and taunting every attack towards her other than the front card.

My friend lined up a very interesting lineup with Aquatus leading the charge, giving backfire to the whole lineup. The mighty Oshannus stands right in front as the tank and will give me big problems due to its high speed to phase and return a backfire to me. Oshannus is followed by Ujurak Elder which I tink is to force attacks towards Oshannus with the camouflage ability. Next up is River Nymph which gives the lineup a little speed boost with swiftness and cleansing any negative buffs that I might be able to inflict. Opponent also planted Spirit Hoarder for backline healer and finally it ends off with a strong card in Runemancer Kye which has Life Leech to continue grabbing more health as tanking up as the match goes on.

Two very different kind of lineup but both with strong intent on how the lineup is being setup, let's see how everything turns on. Game on!

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - A very quiet round with magical puffs flying everywhere but generally no casualties but Dax Paragon at my side and River Nymph on my opponent side is getting risky to pull through next round.

Round 2 - As predicted last round, Dax Paragon got smashed right at the start of the first action of this round while Captain Katie zapped River Nymph and boosted her stats through Blood Lust. With Oshannus still going strong, it is going to be tough for me.

Round 3 - While my backline is holding up strong, my frontline is struggling a little with Venari Spellsmith falling right at the start of the round. Now I do hope Captain Katie can significantly wear out Oshannus as it is tough to progress if we cannot take out Oshannus.

Round 4 - A quieter round as compared to other as Captain Katie aims to wear down Oshannus while other attacks went to wards Iziar. No casualties for this round.

Round 5 - We are almost there with Oshannus finally at 1 health and all we need is a little nudge to take it out.

Round 6 - Iziar manage to take out Oshannus, which is the biggest hurdle we face and now it is to ride towards the end while we face off with a huge Runemancer Kye.

Round 7 till 13 - Captie Katie cleared Ujurak Elder but fell quickly to Kye. But the whole matchup lasted all the way till round 13 because Runemancer is no easy opponent and finally with much effort, we manage to bring her down to secure the victory.

Battle Summary
What a match where we battle all the way to the final card in the lineup and pit our wits against one another to finally determine which lineup was able to come up on top. A very nice idea that my friend had and I also learn alot from this match on a new way to play Oshannus.
