Prelude
Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable and interesting battles in Splinterlands. Posting one day later than usual because of my built up fatigue from my work. But I am still here to share on an interesting match that I had during the week. So let's begin the sharing.
We should have played tonnes of matches involving Up Close and Personal but today match, I met a strong foe whom fielded really strong melee cards. But I have just the right set of cards to get some advantage on my end.

Selection Analysis
We have 4 splinters available for selection - Fire, Water, Death and Dragon. A little tricky here due to it being a 4 card battle but with loads of mana at our disposal but only able to fill cards with melee attack. Not the easiest to assemble but when I look at what I had, it looked like water splinter should be my choice because I have cards that may help me gain a chance against my opponent especially when I have access to Commander Slade whom is a beast for melee attack.
So here is my selection of the lineup. This match I will be using Conclave Arcana Archon, Gorgud the endless which will be able to reduce range cards attack by 1 and most importantly, allow me to access Orc cards in the splinters that are available in this match and give them enrage ability. And definitely on tank, it will be Commander Slade whom is really strong in stats, have dodge and able to enfeeble opponent melee attackers, rendering the damage of opponent cards lower and lower with each successful hit. On the 2nd position, I called upon Thraghun from Death Splinter whom is able to offer a dual attack with reach and at the same time strike with range attack and have cripple to lower opponent health. Next card is also a dual attacker from the foundation cards Great Bear Druid with melee and magic attack and finally end off the lineup with Mad Ogre Anarchist whom have opportunity to pick out cards with low health.
On my opponent end, my opponent used dual Splinter Archon Lorkus which can give affliction and a few other abilities depending on what the owner chooses and gives everyone in his lineup +1 melee and +1 magic attack. Leading the lineup is Oridum Graybrow, whom has a really strong 6 armour and having thorns to give back some damage to cards that strike it. 2nd in the lineup is Chaos Golem with a thick armour as well and high health. The third card is a dual attacker with range and melee in Molten elemental which is possess void and flying. Last but not least is Grimbardun Fighter which hits hard and have shield to withstand some damage.
Very thick and heavily armour cards field up by my opponent. Not gonna be easy as I might just fall to my own hands through the thorns while my opponent just soak up the damage. A tough nut to crack? Maybe not. Let's go right into the round by round synopsis.
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - A relatively quiet first round with multiple attacks missing Commander Slade while Slad strike Graybrow to take back some damage while dropping Graybrow's attack to 3 from the boosted 4. No other real actions yet.
Round 2 - Slade hammered home and took out Graybrow with ease but got struck by Molten Elemental to get afflicted. Not a big impact since there is no heal in my lineup. We continue to add pressure onto opponent lineup with Thraghun also contributing to wear down Chaos Golem's big health stats.
Round 3 - Chaos Golem is so thick, one turn is not enough to take it out. The team continued their barrage to try to lower it down.
Round 4 - At last, down goes Chaos Golem. It is a very good move by my opponent on Molten Elemental to get Life Leech to allow it to gain health while it is far away and near as a form of healing. The battle continues.
Round 5 - Molten Elemental smashed Slade as Thraghun takes over the first position. Should be good to clear it off next round.
Round 6 - Ok, this round we cleared Molten Elemental and now we are down to our last card to clear. Grimbardun Figher.
Round 7-9, This went on for quite a while with Thraghun also falling to the massive attack from Grimbardun and after a slow grind from my remaining 2 cards, we finally secured victory against my opponent.
Battle Summary
A strong a thick opponent that is by far not easy to handle. But the strong point here that I had edge over my opponent is the dual attackers that continue to wear down opponent at multiple occasion. Every additional attack available is an edge and for sure gonna help wear down opponent's big stats or armour. So when you see such ruleset, remember to field all your dual attackers.
