Social Media Challenge - Corrupting To Victory

Prelude
Good day to all, hope that you are doing well and battling often in Splinterlands. It is time again for another battle sharing on a match encounter that happened over the span of this week. Today, the match that I will be showcasing will be me using a card from the Rebellion Soul Bound Reward card pool which contains the ability of corrupted healing. While the match had both me and my opponent both used Arachne Weaver whom has corrupted healing, a little tweak in lineup does help a little which I will share more later in the post.

To help recap the ability of Corrupted Healing is as follows:
Each round, restore 70% of max health rounded down to other allied units. Each time a unit is healed, its max health is reduced by 1.

And with this, if possible do start yourself with a health advantage as this will be important as the match goes on and that health advantage will assist you in staying longer in the game and also become a path for attack if you have opportunity ability cards.

Selection Analysis
We have 4 splinters available for selection - Fire, Earth Life and Death. Mana wise we do have a moderate amount to work with at 32, with this, card selection might be loaded with a number of mid range cards instead of just outright selecting all the big guns.

So here is my selection of the lineup. I've chosen to go with Thaddius Brood for this match and it will be Death Splinter for this match. Pelacor Deceiver is chosen as the tank which has a relatively good stats and has flying. Following will be a makeshift tank whom has scavenge and flying hence as more cards on the battlefield falls, this card will get beefed up and this is Riftwing. To make Riftwing more useful, I added Moxian Rebel to give it weapon training and it will be able to do magic attack and this is also added to the next card Scavo Hireling which is place with intent to repair armour. Next will be the key card for this match Arachne Weaver with corrupted healing and finally will be Lira the Dark whom has opportunity to pick out the weaker cards on my opponent lineup.

On my opponent end, my opponent used death splinter as well but used Astral Entity and a level 2 one. Similar choice of tank and off-tank with Pelacor Deceiver and Riftwing. However, instead of doing the same as me for Moxian Rebel, opponent instead proceeded with standard attackers Soul Strangler and Venari Bonesmith. Both are really good cards which can hit really well and hard. Next is Arachne Weaver for the corrupted healing rounded off by Silent Sha-vi for the backline sneak attack.

2 seemingly same lineup but with elements setup differently. Which will be a better variant of the lineup? The heavy hitting one with resurrect from my opponent or my lineup which had a deeper intent will do better? Let's go right to the battle.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Fast paced match with loads of exchange and I landed the first kill only for Soul Strangler to be revived. Corrupted healing took place and my lineup looks generally in tact.

Round 2 - Things moved even faster now with Lira striking Soul Strangler for the kill and Arachne Weaver killing Pelacor Deceiver which is a good sign of better advantage to come. Opponent with 2 cards down but I am still fully in tact.

Round 3 - With Lira opening the round with smashing opponent's Arachne Weaver, everything moved even faster with all kinds of attacks running onto my opponent and knowing that there will be no longer any healing on their side.

Round 4, Lira took out Riftwing right from the start as the various attacks continued with Silent Sha-vi finally taking out my Lira whom did a fantastic job clearing all the small cards.

Round 5, Pelacor Deceiver opened the round with a fatal strike on Bonesmith and the remaining cards just landed their attacks on Sha-vi and the match ends with all cards on my opponent's lineup all fallen. Nice win!

Battle Summary
Love how the match went and love the result. Remember I mentioned about the health advantage earlier in the post? This is where I will share on the importance of this. In such a matchup, having health advantage ensure you can be sufficiently healed and sustain long enough on corrupted healing. Then next thing will be the opportunity in Lira which makes it hard for opponent to get the healing as she takes out any smaller health cards with ease, boosted by the -1 health from Thaddius. And these are the strategies deployed to get things moving in the match and how they led me to victory.
