Community Engagement Challenge: Underdog Victory - Using Foundation Archon Against Levelled Lineup

Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's topic is on Underdog Victory. I believe many of us would have multiple incidents throughout our playing of the game whereby we face opponents that are way stronger than us or when we have to make do with fielding a much weaker lineup than we want to. While most of the time, we will lose such matches due to the odds stacked against us, however, there are some instances where the underdog comes up victorious and that is a match that I will be showcasing in today's post.

Underdog Match

To describe this match, the situation is that I still do not have any life splinter Archon at my disposal and can only can rely on my foundation archon which is only at level 1. And when I face a levelled up archon that my opponent had, it becomes a big headache for me because I cannot use levelled up cards and the cost of the foundation is much higher than usual ones. This gives me a huge disadvantage and when only life splinter is available for this match, it will definitely be an uphill battle to overcome. So let's dive into today's matchup.

Ruleset: Taking Sides, Broken Arrow
Mana: 36

Lineup Selection/Thoughts:

First I will start off with the Splinter selection, only life available, no other choice. No non foundation Archon available, so foundation Archon, Incessant Sage, it shall be. But for sure it is going to be tough since it is 2 mana more than usual summoners, so in a 36 mana match, it is considered a little significant if I need to use stronger cards.

So now let's look at the lineup proper from the tank till the final card. For tank, I decided to go with Janni Rebel since she is a rather strong card with good health to last all the bombardment from my opponent. To ensure her being able to withstand more melee damage, I put Mana Warden behind her to give her shield. Next in the line after Mana Warden is Olivia of The Brook that is a dual attacker that has opportunity to strike something that is low on health. Next in the line is Meriput Magician which is there to heal up the tank to keep it alive as long as it can. And finally last in the lineup is Thunderous Herald which is used to prevent backstabbing from opponent onto Meriput Magician.

Now onto my opponent, what stands in front of me is a level 5 Prunda Undervesch. Surprisingly, I faced a cute little Happy Quokka as their tank. Not sure what my opponent is trying but the other backline cards are strong. First is to face a level 5 Nimbledook Explorer with armoured striked and within itself protect which will prove to be a problem. Opponent also had Janni Rebel to boost up melee attack from Quokka which is of a much higher level version than mine with more health. The next cards in the lineup will be Mysic Mudbbinder and Janni Oracle which both are magic attackers..Very intimidating lineup from my opponent against my assembled cluster.

How did I manage to overturn and win this?

Let's see how this turned out in round by round analysis.

Round by Round Analysis

Round 1, We started the round with attacks flying all around Quokka was the first to be taken out and I had a first taste of a full blast armoured strike which really hit Janni Rebel hard. Other exchanges continue with no further casualties.

Round 2, Surprisedly my cards were holding up strong and we even manage to clear out Nimbledook Explorer, thanks to the magic attacker's backline. The front is still holding up strong with Janni still holding up after being healed by Meriput Magician.

Round 3, Wow! I am really amazed as we continue to add pressure on my opponent. With the heal and all, I am still able to keep Janni alive as we cleared off opponent's Janni. My cards are working as a team and holding strong against this levelled up lineup.

Round 4, Another round, another card from my opponent lineup falls. This time round Mystic Mudbinder falls while my full lineup is still intact. I am really amazed by these group of cards.

Round 5, Olivia is on fire and she landed the killing blow on opponent's final card in the lineup to secure me the victory. Really glad for this achievement with my full squad still intact. Amazing win!

After Thoughts
While initially thought that it will be a very overwhelming match on my end having to use Foundation Archon and not being able to use card that are of high level ended up being able to even come out of the match with every single card surviving. I am really glad to be able to do so and really seeing how my lineup synergized and overcome a strong foe.
