Community Engagement Challenge: The Corrupted Healing Combo

Prelude
Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's topic will be surrounding powerful combos. While we have transited to the new modern, I am still in the midst of discovering new combos that can deliver consistent results. And with this I turned to a soulbound reward card from the Rebellion set and that is Arachne Weaver.

Combo Sharing
I have shared on how crazy the elves bloodline can be in my sharing during the social media challenge. So I would not showcase yet another match that feature how elves and execute becoming such a menacing ability but instead I will be sharing another combo which have won me quite a couple of matches in modern ranked battle.

This time round the combo revolves around Helheim Demon and Arachne Weaver.

Here's how the combo works:
Helheim Demon has flying and usually able to dodge off some of the opportunity/sneak attack and taunt to absorb all the range and magic attackers, with it having a high health base, typically it will be able to sustain sufficiently. So why not find it a healer and ensure it last a little longer than before it fall to allow more strikes from the backline by ensuring everyone else is safe due to the taunt and continuously being healed up by corrupted healing because death does not have proper tank healers. And this is where Arachne Weaver come in handy to ensure Helheim Demon stays healthy.

And with the understanding of this, the best way to learn about the combo is through a proper match.

Selection Analysis
For me, I used the dragon summoner because I will be able to use another strong card from dragon splinter. For me, the lineup is no shy of heavy duty cards from Halfing Refugee which is an awesome 1 mana tank wit 6 health and 2 attack at level 1. Next will be Night Reaper which is fantastic against flying cards as it will zap them with priority. And following will be the combo duo of Helheim Demon and Arachne Weaver. The taunt and corrupted heal duo that is meant to the central of all the damage and with careful healing to help the team get more value. Next will be Dark Arborist that is there to reduce melee attack and finally Fenmoor Haunt that strikes from the back with 2 damage. A down to earth lineup with a simple strategy to contain damage while others do their thing.

What my opponent fielded was rather similar with the difference being Pallus to take the 2nd position after Halfing Refugee, Dragon Egg Forager to strike for more value and finally an opportunist in Mad Ogre Anarchist and finally an Ujurak Elder to hold the base.

2 very different way of setting using similar cards and also the same summoner. The difference lies in the taunt and heal combination. Let's run through step by step and see how it all comes down to the final outcome of the match.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - With Helheim Demon being the magnet to all the damage other than 1 strike from Halfling Refugee. After soaking in all the damage, Helheim Demon was healed by Arachne Weaver and survived while my lineup manage to clear opponent's Halfling Refugee.

Round 2 - Another quick round where I quickly disposed of Pallus and also Dragon Egg Forager and still we manage to hold on to a full team with my opponent side looking really shaky right now as the numbers are staked against them.

Round 3 - With the taunt, it makes it hard for my opponent to clear off weaker cards and all of them got healed and as they get healed, the damage just keeps flying where opponent's Night Reaper and Mad Ogre Anarchist were both taken out with ease. Leave the lone Ujurak Elder against my full lineup.

Round 4 - Just the lone card stands before us which is quickly cleared out with an overwhelming win achieved by my end.

After Battle Thoughts
Not the most sophisticated combo but something that remind us on using taunt to redirect attacks and a healer prepared to heal the card that taunted. A simple fuss free combo that had different variants in the past and has now been able to be pulled off by death splinter.
