Community Engagement Challenge: Splinterland Learning Journey

Prelude
Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's topic will be looking back at the journey I had when I first started.

Lost Sheep
I think like more other players whom have joined Splinterlands, unless you had a close associate or friend who have already started playing for a while, you will feel lost even after the introduction match to guide you how to start. While I thought that match would have given me sufficient knowledge to at least start, I was very wrong. It started a journey of losses and losing streak. It was so bad that I didn't know how to field team s even after going through the tutorial multiple times.

And the normal reaction that most would have taken is to google or search up youtube. And there, some of the content creators have shared some of their lineup and gameplay and also some cards to buy such as Venari Wavesmith or Mylor Crowling. With those card either bought or rented, it gave me a better chance at winning. Allowing me to at least feel the joy of winning some matches. To help me remember what works, I had a spreadsheet collected of my winning lineups to refer to and hopefully it will still work.

Continuous Learning
The thing about Splinterlands is that while we might have found some ways to win and get some rewards, the journey doesn't stop there. There are new sets, new reward cards and even new rulesets being released as we journey on. And not forgetting the new bloodline mechanics that was newly introduced during Conclave Arcana. The key here is to continuously learn from the community around you, such as peers you've onboarded, buddies in your guild discord and buddies from my metafrens discord (A Singaporean based player discord that we had where we discuss about the new content released). And there is also the Splinterlands discord where there are plenty of sharing and information available for a player to access to. The content is present, what we need to do is to spend some time to read and digest.

Every Battle Is A Learning Opportunity
Your battle scars are actually your best lessons. Every battle, your selection decision, the splinter you choose, the sequence and how the lineup is suited to the ruleset and mana allowed are all good data and by continuously review of these battles especially those that we lost will help us to become better. Looking at how and what we choose to be part of the battlefield, then look at what our opponent has placed on the battlefield. From there, look at what cards you need to get or level up then slowly progress up the ladder.

Accelerate Your Learning by Sharing
I recalled a phrase that my work leaders and teachers always say, you learn better when you teach. And with this I strongly encourage everyone to document your battles, anlalyze them and share it with the community. When you do detailed preparation and documentation, you will realize you will look deeper at the content you share and then share it with the community. This is something that I personally think benefitted me for quite a bit and I strongly encourage you to do the same as well. Not only do you benefit by sharing, the community benefits as we grow together with each phase as we journey on.

Advice for New Players
The world of content about the game is very well documented with loads of sharing. Read them, digest them and if in doubt, reach out to the community in Splinterlands discord and you will definitely clear your doubts and queries faster and establish yourself quicker and not go down the unnecessary paths.

Wrap Up
Thank you for coming by my post and looking at the journey I had been through. It's been quite a journey where I've made loads of friends, learn from the pros and also give back to the community by sharing my battles, strategies and also what are good cards to get for one's collection to make them stronger. Have a good day!
