Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 7

Prelude
Its a new week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. With the wrapping up of the sharing and review of the Soul Bound Reward cards from Rebellion set and due to Rebellion will become the main set that anchor the modern fray when a new card set release into the modern group, there is still a need to have a good base of Rebellion core set cards to do well in battles. So with this , I will embark on reviewing 2 cards per week from the Rebellion Core set to discuss if you should be considering getting some of the cards to adapt to modern gameplay when the new set comes and Chaos Legion phases out. So let's get on with it and look at the 2 cards that we will review today.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and progressing into water splinter by looking at another 2 of the common cards from the Rebellion core set. Summoners will be left all the way to the end of the whole series since by default we should gather as much of them as possible.

Mar Toren Seeker

The first water splinter common card that we will reviewing today will be Mar Toren Seeker. This is an interesting card to have which have the capability to snipe and also dodge at level 1 which is already very decent. Was hoping the damage will scale higher as it levels up, but unfortunately there isn't any damage scaling but mainly on health and speed. As it cross the level 5 mark, there will be phase which makes this a very slippery card that avoids all kinds of attack. This card is always available for little league so it is also good that this can have some form of alternate tank when called upon. This would be considered a good defensive card to own and so far I do have a copy and it served me well.

Sultry Barmaid

The next card we will look at will be Sultry Barmaid. This card is a little interesting and I would think we should look at pushing this card to level 3 minimal if you planning to get one. Leaving this card at level 1 would be a little too wasted as the goodness of this card is not expressed sufficiently at the first 2 levels. Why do I say so? This is because at level 3 onwards, there is stun. With ambush ability, it gives additional attack before match start and having stun will ability will give so much more advantage than just a normal strike. Also there are not many cards in heavy hitters ruleset, having the stun will help amplify the effects of this ruleset. Minor scale up of damage to 3 when closing to max level and more health and speed along the way. I think this is a rather good card with the only pity is that it having 5 mana which disqualify this from Little League. Otherwise, I think this card can be very versatile in terms of lineup selection.

Assessment
2 common cards, both are range cards and to me both serve their own purpose to exist in a lineup. Mar Toren Seeker, a very slippery card that can snipe and also when put to the test at front line or even backline, can avoid loads of attacks to buy time for remaining cards in lineup to strike. Sultr Barmaid, an aggressive card that has ambush and stun making it able to stun something right at the start which is really good as we effectively suppress one card from opponent lineup. Each has its own purpose, one a defensive card while the other an offensive card.

Rating wise for both the cards, I would say Mar Toren Seeker with its capability to seek out non melee cards and kill them early and also its ability to avoid attacks, the rating that it deserve should be 3.9/5 based on the capability of this card being able to be multipurpose. For Sultry Barmaid, it will deserve a rating of 3.9/5 as well, but key is that this card must be at level 3 for its true capability to work and its a pity that it is 5 mana. Both cards to me are worthy investments and one should consider to add both to your collection to bolster both your attack and defence.

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try out how it can perform before purchasing or renting.
