Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 4

Prelude
Welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. With the wrapping up of the sharing and review of the Soul Bound Reward cards from Rebellion set and due to Rebellion will become the main set that have sinked into the modern era when a new card set release into the modern group, there is still a need to have a good base of Rebellion core set cards. So with this, I will embark on reviewing 2 cards per week from the Rebellion Core set to discuss if you should be considering getting some of the cards to adapt to modern gameplay when the new set comes and Chaos Legion phases out. So let's get on with it.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to last post, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue with the 2 rare cards from Rebellion Fire Splinter.

Torch Vizier

The first fire splinter rare card that we will review is the Torch Vizier. This is one of the cards that is really good even at level 1 considering the stats and it being an opportunity card. And what is even better is that it scales in attack quite well as it levels up. By pushing this card to level 2 and pairing with Tarsa, you are already getting a nice, fuss free card that is going to strike your enemies weakest spot hard and give them a tough time. Not forgetting that 4 speeds is rather fast against many other cards. Give it a little more push and you will not be fearful against thorns that opponent might set a trap for you to step on. This card I do own a copy but I am looking to really push it a little higher and get more unlocked and even better battle stats. I have also seen the performance of this card on the battlefield, no doubt one of the better cards from this set.

Muspelheim Demon

The next card we will look at will be Muspelheim Demon. A card that I never even seen on the battlefield since Rebellion was released some time back. I didn't like that it is 5 mana, which makes it awkward to field in matches and it didn't qualify for little league which could be a much more viable place for it to thrive. While having a scattershot is nice but when we are faced against armour lineup, there is only this much this card can do. Have true strike later on is good but stats wise this card is somehow still very mediocre. I can't really find a good function for this card rather than a filler into lineup when we are stuck and have no other cards to put in. Unlikely I will be expanding this card unless I can really find a purpose to it. Maybe range only lineup will be good place but I am still very uncertain. Will continue to probably rent or try out until I find how I can utilize this card.

Assessment
As compared to the 2 cards that I've reviewed last week, one of them is good while the other is mediocre. While Torch Vizier is such a good card with good stat scaling and the opportunity just lift off how good it is to take out low health cards in opponent lineup, Muspelheim Demon just falls off with generally weaker stats and no viable function that can replace any card in my lineup that I know off. There might still be some rulesets that might be good for it but for me, this card just doesn't make the cut especially when it is a rare.

Rating wise for both the cards, I would say Torch Vizier rightfully deserves a good decent rating of 4.2/5 based on the battles it has served me and the stat scaling while it levels while Muspelheim Demon will only deserve to have a rating of 2.1/5 for the weaker stats and viability in matches, it didn't had any cutting edge worth putting into a lineup, maybe something in the future with the new set but I am not certain. Minimally, do get a copy of Torch Vizier and work it up to level 4 but for Muspelheim Demon, I would say, even if you didn't had 1, it is alright for now until we can find synergy with other cards in the new card set.

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try before purchasing or renting.
