Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 28

Prelude
Greeting to all, we are closing into midweek and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. So much to do now on Splinterlands especially with the Frontier format taking up quite a fair bit of time for me to get more foundation cards but we should not neglect the main ranked battles!

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 2 epic cards from death splinter in today's review.

Executioner Kraan

The first death splinter rare ard that we will reviewing today will be Executioner Kraan. Personally, I think this card have quite a decent stat line with a large attack which scales to a maximum of 4. I think this card will be great when we anticipate loads of magic attack that will come our way. When it goes to level 3, this card gains weaken which is something that really will bring some form of health advantage as your lineup is able to chew off opponent cards with more ease. However, with more funky abilities and synergies pulling off, I would actually prefer to play Halfling Refugee from the rewards set because it is low mana and I can reserve more mana for other cards that can change to outcome of the game. 6 mana is a little heavy but in totality, this is not a bad card just that players might use other methods or other tanks instead of this unless the match is like to go magic heavy.

Avarisdeus

The next card that we will look at will be Avarisdeus. Gosh this card is so hard to spell. I think this is an interesting card that has double strike but there is a randomness to this due to scattershot as sometimes we just wish for both hits to land on a single card and take it out rather than to have that 1 health lingering. Otherwise, I think this is a good card to have because of it qualifies for little league and later on, it is really on good speed and even gains flying subsequently. This is make this card hard to get aimed and start delivering random hits to those unexpecting targets. For me, if this card is magic instead of range, it would be really amazing but if that is the case, it would definitely be a legendary card. Otherwise, this is still a good card to invest on to max if you can afford.

Assessment
2 epic cards that are being reviewed today of which I have slightly different assessment on how they are relevant they are in collection. But for sure both will need some work to get to higher levels than to keep at level 1. One is a conventional tank that does even better when fending against magic heavy lineup while the other has loads of surprise element and can disrupt the whole lineup subjected to what gets hit due to the randomness it carries.

Rating wise, Executioner Kraan would be getting a rating of 3.3/5 from me. Fuss free, simple to understand conventional tank that works really good against magic and when gained weakness, it is also an added plus to the whole lineup. But with reference to how people play today in ranked battles, I would say it is harder for this card to shine as it chalks up alot of mana which could be left for stronger backline cards. Not a bad card but there are better options to put at tank position. For Avarisdeus, a card with loads of surprise element but having double strike and having the speed/flying to become elusive certainly brings loads of survivability. Rating wise would be a 4/5 because of little league capability, the double strike and how it will scale as it levels up and the lack of better score is due to being a range attacker instead of a magic attacker.

My recommendation will be to get Executioner Kraan to at least level 3 for weakness and amuch thicker armour to support to void armour and Avarisdeus to at least level 4 for more health, speed and also flying to keep it alive.

Wrap Up
Rebellion do really have good cards that are available and with Conclave Arcana establishing its foothold, synergies built amongst them will yield loads of advantage in the battlefield. The modern gameplay is evolving constantly with new ways to play considering the bloodline combinations. I like how things are moving through on the set releases and certainly hope to be able to learn more about the cards and better my gameplay on the battlefield.
