Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 15

Prelude
A brand new week has started and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. Conclave Arcana is live already and we are seeing influx of their cards be it on the battlefield and also the market. And with modern just comprising of Rebellion and Conclave Arcana, we will need to learn more about Rebellion core in order be more viable in modern.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 2 rare cards from earth splinter in today's review.

Swell Spore Beast

The first earth splinter rare card that we will reviewing today will be Swell Spore Beast. This is an interesting card as it is like a guaranteed 3 damage other than armour. I think this will be a good card to add to my collection especially at higher levels this card will gain affliction which is very important to shut down those cards that perpetually heal and heal. Might not look an appealing card but with the hit going to be certain, the affliction will be certain which is good. And in terms of attack when at max, it scales to 5 which is really good.

Lioceros

The next card we will look at will be Lioceros. First impression on this card will be that it will likely be used as a tank and it is great that it has a thorns and subsequently at higher levels, it will gain trample. And a card that seemingly look like this will be Diemon Shark in Chaos Legion. Should be an interesting to own and compete to be at the tank role with cards like Endless Ape. Stat scaling for this card is amazing and certainly will become a huge threat with 9 armour as this card levels up. Something really to look out for and get it to a much higher level. At low level might not be the ace card that will carry you but as it levels up, it becomes stronger and stronger.

Assessment
The 2 cards that we assess today are cards that serve very different purpose. For one, I like how Swell Spore Beast is giving a guaranteed hit and at higher levels help give higher chance for landing affliction to disrupt all the healing. And for Lioceros, a potential strong tank that can be used especially at higher levels with the good scaling. One is a good striker from range and one will be a good choice for tank. Both are cards that are stable and can be used in multiple situations.

Rating wise for both the cards would be rather decent but will not be in the range of super high zones. Swell Spore Beast should get a rating of 3.5/5 in view of the good damage it can land and I like how there will be affliction in higher levels which will be useful in bigger leagues. Next will be Lioceros, which I personally would give a rating of 3.5/5 as well with the scaling seen with thorns and subsequently with much more health and armour as it levels up and becoming a bigger tank that will do well.

As compared to the 2 cards we reviewed last week, a much stronger pair of cards that we should consider getting a handful of them to get them to a good level to get the good abilities and stats that these cards have.

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try out how it can perform before purchasing or renting.
