Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 14

Prelude
A brand new week has started and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. Conclave Arcana presale is over and now we are awaiting the start of the general sale for people whom missed out on the presale to catch up and get the packs they need to prepare for modern gameaplay and support the Rebellion cards in their collection. Big changes in terms of gameplay and strategy is coming with a brand new set coming in and this is why it is important to deep dive on these Rebellion core cards so that it can be nicely integrated with the Conclave Arcana cards.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 2 rare cards from earth splinter in today's review.

Gobson Sniper

The first earth splinter rare card that we will reviewing today will be Gobson Sniper. This is a card that I rarely see being played. One thing would probably because it is at 5 mana which is 1 higher than the requirement for little league. This card as its name goes definitely has snipe and also has cripple. As it progresses, it gains camouflage and strengthen. Both are decent abilities to have. Stat scaling is not too bad either. Another possible reason for lack of play can also be due to the magic meta that had been surrounding earth splinter which ended up such range attackers usually not being prioritized for use. I am not sure how it will be for Conclave Arcana but I do think this card still has some use especially with the camouflage at level 3 and hitting cards hard with the range attacks and crippling them. A card that need a little more deliberation.

Blackmoor Nymph

The next card we will look at will be Blackmoor Nymph. An interesting card which has immunity right at level 1 and qualifies for little league. Might be a good choice when encountering noxious fumes and this will definitely outlast many things. In terms of damage scaling, it stops at 2 which is not too bad considering the low mana cost of this card. It does gain snare at higher levels but honestly with the speed of it, most likely before we can snare something down, this card might already get taken out. So unless we level it up to the fullest, the snare could probably be not as useful. A card that is meant for specific ruleset and might not be a game changer. I might not go all out for such a card but let's see whether there are opportunities to synergize with Conclave Arcana.

Assessment
The 2 cards that we assess today are cards that we cannot make a conclusion whether or not to sink in right away considering that they are not as clear cut as other cards that I've reviewed before. Of which both are more situational in terms of ruleset and also if there will be more synergy with Conclave Arcana before buying them or levelling up existing ones to higher level.

Rating wise for both the cards would have to take a big hit in terms of the uncertainty and usefulness of these cards. Gobson Sniper should get a rating of 2.7/5 in view of its decent abilities which can really inflict good damage on opponents while the problem is that we rarely see any non magic lineup for magic which makes this a bummer and without a good summoner supporting it, it will end up be replaced by other magic cards that are boosted. Next will be Blackmoor Nymph, which I personally would give a rating of 3.0/5 due to its still being able to get boosted by existing summoners but the poor stats and single dimension use limits the potential of this card by a lot. While still useful, I would say at most keep a copy as a utility so that you have a card during noxious fumes that will not be affected by poison.

As compared to the 2 cards we reviewed last week, this two cards look a little weaker and less critical for getting. I suggest to monitor a little further and see how they can work with the new Conclave Arcana cards before deciding whether to get more copies or just keep to a single 1 BCX copy.

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try out how it can perform before purchasing or renting.
