The Battling Rules Never To Forget

Hello, my lovely friends in the Splinterverse.

I hope every one of you is having a great time in the Splinterlands. The Splinterlands is getting more exciting with the upcoming new core card edition of Conclave Arcana and also the price of SPS has doubled recently with the recently released land update that has made the game more functional. The presale of the Conclave Arcana, a new set of core cards, is now live in the Splinterlands shop. As my part in the "Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!" I'm going to talk about the most important facts you should know about learning strategies in the game. I hope you will get some new aspects of the battle after reading this blog, which I will try to focus on.

There are many things in a battle that one player should focus on. Here, I am going to provide a full breakdown of some of the most important things you need to know about any Splinterlands battle in order to fully understand a battle strategy and build up your own strategy by considering your own card strengths, placement, and reasoning behind each position in the team.

Set of Battle Rules

The battle rules are the most important thing that determines how to fight in Splinterlands battle and which strategy to follow accordingly. It changes the basic rules of the game for a particular match with different set of rules with different numbers up to 3. There can be different standard for these battle rules as some them are as follows.

  • Standard: No extra words or phrases added as any abilities or criteria. All of the cards, including summoners and monsters, act properly with their default stats.

  • There can be the custom rule sets, such as the monsters that don't have the "Flying" skill, take damage every round from "Earthquake."

  • Reverse Speed: Monsters that move more slowly hit first. Going too fast becomes a problem.

  • When you get the Healed Out, your healing skills, including Heal and Tank Heal, are turned off.

  • If an enemy does not have "Immunity" all of them are poisoned and take damage every round.

  • Back to Basics: All monsters lose their skills, but not their base stats.

All of these rulesets have solid strategic value as knowing the rules lets you:

  • Pick monsters and skills that "take advantage of the environment"

  • Stay away from monsters whose powers are not as strong because of the rules.

  • Figure out what the opponent might do and do something different to beat your opponent.

Mana Cap

The mana cap tells you how much total mana you can use to build your team. It is very important because a high mana cap (for example, 50+) lets you add big tanks and a lot of support monsters with high MANA cost, which are more powerful than the small MANA monsters.

  • If your power cap is low (12–20), you can only use cheaper monsters that are often less powerful, but they can be faster or more effective.

It has a great strategic value as this affects whether you choose one strong monsters or several cheap MANA monsters that work well together.

  • You must maximise value per mana by finding cheap monsters with lots of useful skills that can make your team a powerful one.

  • Depending on the amount of mana available, it can force players to choose the limited options of the available monsters from their collection. It creates a lot of uncertainity in the battles.

Active Splinters

In each battle, you can only use certain elements, such as Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon, and Neutral. Sometimes you can have the option to use any one from the major splinter teams, and sometimes only one, with the possible combination with the neutral and dragon, as these two can be used with any splinter teams. Currently, there are some summoners that can enable two splinter teams simultaneously, which can be a great thing for winning a battle with a more powerful strategy.

It is very important because -

  • It tells you and your opponent which cards they can use in the battle.

  • Helps you guess what your opponent will do if they have good cards in a certain Splinter team.

  • As an example, you can not use Dragon + Life if Life is not available use in the battle allwance.

So, the strategic value lies in pick the Splinter that works best with the rules and your mana cap.

Choice of Appropriate Summoner and Monsters

Finally, the summoners and monsters are such an important part of your plan because they are the main force to defeat your enemy. So, for choosing the best summoners, the following concerns should be considered.

  • Buff summoners (for example, +2 damage, +2 magic, +2 armours) can be useful with High MANA matches. These summoners can boost skills, like making a full Magic or any other attacking-based team stronger. Debuffs summoners can be better for small MANA matches with more monsters as a defensive strategy. So, choosing the right summoner is often half the fight; it tells you what to do.

Choosing the monsters is the heart of battle, and it lets you plan how you put together your team, what each card does, and where you put them. So, there are many concerns that are crucial to arrange your team, The following points about the monsters importance in various roles are to be carefully handle for making a good team.

  • Tank in the position 1 that akes the most damage. It needs a lot of Health, Armor, and/or defense skills like Shield, Void, Thorns, and Heal.

  • Off-tanks at the positions 2–3 need the ability of Reach, Void Armor, or Taunt, they can do damage or act as backup tanks.

  • Support: Healers, fillers, and shielders should be put in the back where they are safe with a relatively stronger monster at the last to keep it alive longer against the sneak attackers.

  • Assassins: Sneak, Opportunity, and Snipe monsters that sneak past the tank to kill backliners.

  • Last Position: Usually hidden or flying (Fly or Dodge) to avoid sneak attacks.
