Splinterlands Survival Mode Is Now Live

Hello there, my lovely Splinterverse friends.

I hope that everyone in the Splinterlands is having a great time. Splinterlands just got two big updates, and Survival Mode is the massive change that is already live now with a lot of talking in the sphere. These changes will have an effect on how people fight and how the game is played, with so many associated changes. As part of the "🔥 Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Survival Mode Launch & Leaderboard Updates 🔥," I'm writing this blog post today to tell you what this means for you, especially if you don't have as many cards as I do for the Survival mode battle. I hope that these rules and tips will help people who are just starting to play make a better deck.

Here, I am going to talk about the biggest updates to the game: Survival Mode and Leaderboard Rewards that have been changed for the better. Since, I only have a few cards, I've been both excited and scared about these changes. Let me explain what they mean, how they change things for people like me, and how you can make it through. The main changes about the Survival mode will show with the new era, but it is open with bots and any cards; I think only a few with tons of cards will be able to play this version. But the most important update regarding the league-based scoreboard is going to affect us all with a new way to make a lot of merits, as it is planned that the top 100 players in every league will be given merits after these changes are made to the game. I really like the idea of giving more rewards to players in every league. This will encourage more players to play more, which will give us more chances.

High Risk, High Reward is the main point of survival mode, in my opinion, as very few players will be here, and they will share a lot of rewards in this way. Survival Mode is the newest form of battle addition in Splinterlands, and it is very exciting. The main points of the formats are:

  • You can use any card and you can even use bots and battle helpers from any third-party services that make it very competitive.

  • No cost for energy: You can fight as many times as you want.

  • The painful point is that if a card loses, it's locked in all game types until its downtime ends or the season is over.

The detail of the downtime is shown in the following table, and it depends on the card level and rarity.

Be careful in Survival Mode
Survival Mode feels dangerous when you only have a few cards. I have to grind with lower cards if I lose my best ones. But here's what I now know:
Cooldowns depend on rarity: legendary cards heal faster (48-120 hours depending on the card level), while common cards take 5-15 days. Also, the following matters will affect the gameplay.

  • Only for SPS rewards: This is where you get SPS tokens, not Glint or boxes.

  • You can only use season rentals; short-term renters are not allowed. So, it is better to prepare ahead of time!

  • Use higher rare cards first because they have shorter cooldowns, which means you will have less downtime.

  • Rent backup cards: As a backup plan, it is better to rent as many cheap cards as possible.

  • Surrender early: If it's clear that you'll lose a fight, give up and save your cards' cooldowns.

  • Make Custom Sets: Use Custom Sets to make a "Survival Deck" and then unflagged it for other game types.

  • Keep an eye on the SPS pool. Points for rewards start at around 200 right now. Start early to get SPS as the pool grows.

Another big change is the leaderboard rewards: More Glint and More Grind, but I am not going to write a lot about that as I have already discussed these changes in detail in this post. Now, the top 100 players from each league in modern and wild formats will be rewarded with some extra glint token, so it is a great way to increase the game assets.

With both of these changes, the cost of renting cards will go up because players will need extras to avoid having to wait. Survival Mode and changes to the leaderboards make Splinterlands more of a tactics game that will add more fun. No matter how you feel about it, Splinterlands is always changing. Whether you're a whale or a tiny like me, change your plans and be smart about your overall plan.

I hope you find some useful information in the post that will add more fun to your Splinterlands journey. If you have any questions, you can ask me in the comments. I will try to answer them as much as I can. Thanks a lot for your time and attention. I will catch you at the next one.
Have a great day!
