Is It Time to Push Chaos Legion into Wild?
There's been a bit of negativity surrounding Splinterlands in the past few days. First was the need for funding the development of land. And on the DAOn Hall, there's been news of the team further downsizing their staff as well as running a budget deficit in their monthly expenses. I hate to think that the company is in trouble and might be on the brink of collapse.
The number of Rebellion packs sold has been underwhelming and might not see a significant spike in the final month of the sale window. And just like with how Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, and other TCGs earn the majority of their revenue through sealed products, Splinterlands' main income comes from sale events. But the problem is that there is little demand for Rebellion cards right now because Chaos Legion still dominates the modern format.
I think we should let Chaos Legion retire into the wild format and let land hold the value of this overprinted set. A few things might occur when this happens. First, there would suddenly be a high demand for Rebellion cards. As the current circulating supply is low, this can trigger the demand for Rebellion packs. Second, the SPS rewards will be a lot higher in modern as many players who were only holding Chaos Legion cards will be forced to migrate to the wild format. And high SPS rewards would attract players to buy or rent cards in order to get a share of the pie. Third, the meta will shift once again and new strategies can emerge from the limited pool of cards. This should make modern fresh and exciting. These are just my own opinion and there might be better ways to solve the company's problems. I'm still hopeful for the future of the game, especially in the development of land.

CL is the best set in the game. It's the most balanced one, with most cards being useful and nothing too broken. Also, every new core set has been released 2 years after the one before it. Let's not break this cycle. We need to release the new set 2 years after Rebellion and only at that time CL rotates out of Modern.
The income-argument is a good one - but honestly, I don't like modern to be Rebellion only. I played the Rebellion Tournaments for a while, but the gameplay has not the same depth by itself as it has in combination with Chaos Legion. Especially with some of the cards being incredibly hard to beat. The new rewards brought some balance into it, but I still lose most of the time against a Tofu, or a Mantaroth - or the other more expensive cards. Luckily I have Rage and Venka myself, so that is something :-D
So, while I get the idea, I don't think it's the best pay to boost revenue, since it would hurt the gameplay side, and also the experience for new players since they have to spend a lot more money to really start playing.
