Today marks a significant moment in Splinterlands history as the year-long sale of Rebellion packs has finally concluded. While the total sales was below the team's expectation, a million packs is still a big amount considering that it was launched during the bear market.

It's also interesting to see the stark difference between Rebellion and Chaos Legion. Rebellion's statistics has more similarities to the previous mini set, Riftwatchers, than the core one.

This will have a significant impact to the upcoming modern landscape where Chaos Legion is no longer accessible. I'd imagine that card supply will be very limited and most would rely on Conclave Arcana if they are willing to play in modern. And I assume many would want to play by that time as the SPS pool would be shared by a very small number of players.

Hardy Stonefish

And in celebration of this historic moment, I'd like to feature a card that is also memorable to me, and that is the Hardy Stonefish. I still remember pulling a gold copy of this card back when Chaos Legion officially launched.

I was first confused when I saw this card. I was still very new to the game at that point and thought that Chaos Legion would be a good start for me. I didn't think I would find a purpose for it since it had a basic attack and no ability. The first thing that came to my mind was that it was similar to Pokemon's Magikarp which basically has zero combat power. But as I played through matches, I realized that the strength of Hardy Stonefish was its mana cost. For just one mana, you get a sturdy meatshield that can fit either as a frontline filler or a backline guard. As long as it can tank one or two attacks from an enemy monster, then for me, it has well served its purpose. Even now, I still use it from time to time whenever I am needing a one mana card to complete my lineup. I especially find it handy in Little League rulesets.

I've long since lost my very first copy of a gold Hardy Stonefish. So to commemorate the end of Rebellion, I decided to purchase another gold Stonefish. This also got me excited as to what new cards Conclave Arcana has to offer. Will there be a spiritual successor to Hardy Stonefish? I guess we'll find out in a few months.
